The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

I don't know how to post the clip from my phone, but if anyone wants to see how Burt Reynolds might have handled the role of James Bond, go to YouTube and type in 'Burt Reynolds Impasse'.
It was a movie he did in the Philippines in 1968, about the time they were looking to replace Connery.
There's a clip of a running/fight sequence that kinda shows that Burt could have handled at least the physical parts of the role.

I was looking through my book on science fiction films, trying to come up with a movie for the Great Sci-fi Movies thread, when I read the review for OHMSS and the author gave his thoughts on the three actors who had played Bond. (This book was published before Dalton took over the role.)
He said Connery was the "Schoolyard Bully", Lazenby the "Pretty Face", and Moore the "Suave, debonair, man about town".

I remember around the time of the Guns n Roses cover reading that he wanted to do this but McCartney vetoed it because it “glorified meat-eating.”
We'll have to try to find him singing it live.

When we were young, Bernie's Deli was down the block
(Ooh ooh ooh ooh)
He made a great liver pate
(You know he did, you know he did, you know he did)
But if there's one thing in this world that I like better
Than a corned beef on rye

It's Chicken Pot Pie
Chicken Pot Pie

Personally, I don't think any of the actors portraying Blofeld have been particularly good in the role.
Oddly enough, Vincent D'onofrio's portrayal of Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) in Marvel's Daredevil, is closer to the description of Blofeld in his first appearance in the novel Thunderball, than any other onscreen appearance.

I still firmly believe there's a parallel universe where Wattz played Le Chiffre and Mikkelsen played Blofeld.

Oh yes that scene is amazing. And of course then a pair of skates appear and the camera pans up to Diana Rigg and my heart always skips a beat...

I should have mentioned this as well. It's how the scene pays off. (And it's in the book, is it not?)

Do you know how Christmas trees are grown?

You know how much people hate Ladies First from Goldeneye? That's how much I hate that song.

If OHMSS had been filmed in place of say, Thunderball or YOLT, would Connery been more invested in the role?
He was almost checked out by the time of YOLT.
Of course, we would have gotten a different director and a different Tracy, but would they have gone with the downbeat ending.
There's no way they would have kept Bond married, unless they killed Tracy off at the beginning of the next movie, whatever that might have been.
