Some relationships start that way.I lied I watched.Yeah them as well but their relationship was already established episode 1. Soni kinda don't think too much on it since it has seemed more like a booty call kind of relationship until the last episode.
So sorry for the spam but that is EXACTLY where this was going to go. Did you not see TOS? Why do you think this happened? Christine was always there for Spock in TOS. She was RIGHT THERE. But he did not go there with her ever again. Something had to have happened BEFORE we see them in TOS for Spock to behave that way IN TOS. So THIS happened. Once bitten, twice shy is the adage you're looking at. I'm quite happy with this because I was afraid they were going to mess with canon on this show as soon as I saw the Spock/Chapel thing happening.
Also, I don't see Chapel as cold toward Spock in Wedding Blues. I feel that she's moving on but her feelings are still there and she feels very guilty. Her face when she was asked to tell the "romantic story" when Spock was standing there and also when he turned and left did not tell me that she was cold. She's still in love with him, but she's pushing him away bc she now knows she's not what "his future" needs.

Agree 100%. Boimler spilled the beans in "Those Old Scientists." Plus, she did not want to answer the wuestion about the ring,,Spick insisted. Plus, in Hegemony II, she specifically told him not to wait for her or do anythis romantic. And that there was no "us "
Indeed. Her feelings are still there and the episode shows it plainly on her face.
Did you not see "Among the Lotus Eaters?" That made it pretty clear itcwas beyond booty call.
I was surprised that T'Pring wasn't brought up as his engagement is an obvious barrier. I'm unclear whether the wedding was suppose to be a vague fantasy or an indication that Spock genuinely wanted to marry Christine after 3 months. If so then he is certainly more committed to her than he was to T'Pring (who has really gotten a bad deal here). In fairness to Spock, I'm not sure he actually brought T'Pring drama. The episode seemed to imply that he would end his relationship with her formally and quickly if Christine wanted to be with him (if this is meant to be more than a very vague fantasy and is based on genuine potential behaviour - debatable). At best, Spock and TâPring are on a break. Of course Chapel would chose someone else, instead dealing with the drama.
I don't think that they'll go down the Leila path. She was a one off character and Spock was under the influence of drugs which had that impact. I know that I have a different interpretation to some but I thought that the 'love' with Leila was the drugs talkinghe has not met Leila Kalomi yet. Spock even says as much in TOS after he meets Leila again. The question is, is Leila the reason Chapel realizes she still loves Spock?
That's great to hear that interpretation, thank you. I do see some guilt but perhaps not conflicted emotions or ongoing feelings. This could certainly be what I'm not seeing (and I would be happy for that to be the case!) I found the romantic story and bubbly excitement over what a great guy Korby was to crowd out any room for genuine conflict. Admittedly though there's a solid story driven reason for her to throw herself into moving on and really try and not dwell on Spock. There are many episodes to go and hopefully we'll see the conflict leaking out.And I am with you in that Chapel does not come across as cold. I would suggest anyone who is a SP/Ch fan to re-watch WBB -- Chapel is definitely feeling a lot of sadness and guilt at what's happening. The "coldness" they are seeing is just the top layer. In fact, it's probably an interpretation by those viewers. Her feelings are still there and the episode shows it plainly on her face.
