Got back from seeing it 3rd time. This in IMAX. I wish it was closer because that is best to see it. On every level but the music score is so, so, much better this way! Obviously if you do not like this style that won’t change things. But I really could hear it this time. The John Williams theme when used was much fuller. That has been issue with many movies in recent years. Maybe it’s my local theater. I want to buy a physical copy of the score, if it even exists. Need to look. Listening through Apple Music did not do it justice. Nor the previous screens either. Though Ultra Screen better than normal screen but not as good as IMAX.

3 times? That just seems like 2 times too many. :)
Yeah the score isn’t great. Usually DC films have a good recognisable theme for each hero but this didn’t have that sadly. Relying too much on the old ‘78 one.

You know what? Looking at the film through a comic book lens, that does work. I agree with you and others that this film fully embraced its comic book nature that few other films have done (and done well) and I say that as massive Nolan and MCU fan. With that in mind, the fast shifting public opinion does work.

That said, I'm still a little weighed down by the fact that it was also intended as an allegory for how people consume news media now. Either way, I'll keep the sharp comic book lens in mind the next time I watch the film.

It definitely worked for me and I've seen it several times now.

There is a clue early on that the second half of the message will be dodgy when Jor-El says "we love you more than land..."

He says something like "We love you more than the heavens. We love you more than land." I just took that as the equivalent of "We love you more than heaven and earth"

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite Superman movie and my favorite cast. All of them, the best ever.

Same here!

Considering my Birthday fell on a Sunday I took off tomorrow...
and seeing it a 4th time.

Saw it for the third time today. It's still fucking awesome! I'll be seeing it again this coming Saturday because I didn't know it had a 3D Imax release until someone in this thread mentioned it. This movie will rock in 3D.

One of my friends thought it was ok and another didn't like it. I'm not sure if it's because they are huge fans of the first two with reeves. I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to get out and see this. But I'm hearing all great things. Mr Terrifics costume looks exactly like the comics. Perfect.
I’m a bit confused why Pracemaker is still around. He’s from the other timeline.

I think it's a stylistic choice. Gunn loves how the peacemaker turned out so he used that version for this movie. I don't think it has anything to do with alternate time lines/multiverse stuff. I honestly think people are tired of the multiverse stuff and DC will now stay clear of it on this reboot for now. I hope. Marvel has been going heavy on it for a few years now and it's not doing them any favors at this point. It's making the prime characters seem less important if we know there are millions of versions of them out there. Just my humble opinion.

I got my first exposure to Superman with Christopher Reeves as Superman. I liked him through all four of the films he was in; I wished the scripts had maintain a level of consistency. Additionally, I felt Superman did a dirty by wiping Lois Lane's memory at the end of the second film. For me, he was Superman for a long time.

Each time, I watch a new actor in the role, I feel that I am seeing a new interpretation of the character. I feel the character should be the focus of their own film with each new reboot, and that they should be respectful to the source material. I have reservations about the changes made to Superman's biological parents, partly because I grew up with the older films where his parents sent him to Earth so he could survive and not become a tyrant over Earth. I have to see how the change is handled in the latest film before I make any judgment on it.

Jennifer Holland star of Peacemaker, Suicide Squad, and Black Adam is married to James Gunn.

Happy wife, happy life.

This is not true, there have been tons of movies that most people have agreed were good, but nobody went to see, and vice versa.
Such as? And define most people. Internet group think on a forum is a tiny fraction of the viewing audience. Keep in mind we are talking about big movies that got heavy advertising and not indie pictures that no one knew existed. If the movie was well advertised and tanked at the box office it was because the majority of the viewing audience considered it to be a bad film and the bad word of mouth spread. Not because of hate spread by morons who never even saw the picture. That's all I'm saying here.
