A ‘1’? There was absolutely nothing to like about the movie? Nothing?

Either I liked it overall or I didn't. And I didn't.
Which is surprising cuz I like GotG 1 and 3.
But this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
It's hard to enjoy an action movie with a migraine.;)

Yeah the movie gave me a migraine 20 minutes in.
It's that good?
Not at all.
Not surprising in the least.

Now we just need to wait for Kirk55555's review, and maybe one other regular hater I can think of, and we will know just how good this movie is.
Thought this was a grading and discussion thread?

Just returned from seeing Superman. Need to digest it a bit. Definitely better than Man of Steel, but not as good as Superman: The Movie or Superman II.

Thought this was a grading and discussion thread?

Yep. Remember back in the day when we had to get our movie reviews from the local newspapers and you got to know the tastes of the two movie critics who worked for it? It didn't matter if you had the same tastes or not because you could judge based on your knowledge of their previous reviews if you would like a movie or not.

Well...the discussion of the 1 would be interesting.
Sure.
Overall, I didn't like the movie, like at all. That's why it got a 1 from me.
What I did like but has no effect on my rating:
- Mr Terrific and his tech handling, plus Edi Gathegi is long overdue for a front starring role and no, X-Men 15 years ago don't count.
- Will Reeve's cameo
- The Engineer

That's about it.

Just got back. I enjoyed it immensely.

I'm not going to pick which is better, the 1978 film or the 2025 film. As far as I'm concerned, they tie for first place as the very best Superman films, far surpassing all other movies I've seen with Superman in them as a character, by many parsecs.

This film makes many brilliant choices and follows through, resonating powerfully. It hits the ground running, with a cold open (get it? ha, ha!). The choice to do the same with who knows Clark's secret identity is also to be applauded. Providing motives different from the norm for Jor-El and Lara also works very well. This had an all around superb cast. It had funny moments, tense moments, uncertain moments. The plot was generally logical. What was on the screen was generally a pleasure to behold, and I'll echo its assessment as among the greatest realizations of what up until now has existed only on the pages of comic books.

I love all the Justice Gang, and I hope to see more of them.

Two big thumbs up. All issues for this poll just result in a rounding error.

10/10. I mean, I believe a man can fly.

Man that was a good movie.

But I was surprised at how few people were there. It's a 230 person auditorium, and there was only I think a couple dozen.

Then again, it was a 3PM on a Thursday, and with advertisements saying it releases the 11th, not the 10th could also have put people off.

Have to wait until Monday but the sales picture is very mixed - doing well in some markets and basically DOA in others (e.g. Germany, China). The US domestic market looks VERY strong so will be fine overall.

UK critics were pretty harsh about it so interested to see how many viewers on Saturday when I go.

I give it a 8/10, or A-. It’s very solid. Refreshing to get a VERY comic booky Superman film. As much as I love the first two Reeve films, they’ve always only been a 30% approximation of what were in the comics. It’s nice to get a Superman centered story in what’s a firmly established DC universe.

One of the smartest things it does is show that the Justice Gang can actually handle themselves. That promptly takes care of any concern over “why wasn’t Superman around?”.

It was pretty good. Felt very 90’s. It’s the sort of story I read in the comics back in that time. The new Superman was okay but he just felt like Zach’s Shazam to me.
I did find it funny that Lex’s big plan was another real estate deal. That made me laugh.

I’ll give it 7/10

I’m a bit confused why Pracemaker is still around. He’s from the other timeline.

Except that it wasn't. That was a red herring, playing humorously on audience expectations.

He flat-out calls Supes a dummy for falling for the "Luthorania" ploy. "It was never anything but a way to get to you."

I just thought that was just him being caught out and just changing the narrative on the fly.
Anyway I wasn’t the biggest fan of this Lex. Probably my least favourite out of all of them. Just felt too cartoonish.

He's the first screen version of Luthor who conveys real menace and danger, not to mention intelligence. All previous live action versions other than S&L have been buffoonish and played for laughs.

Oh, I forgot the weird kid in Snyder's movies. Everyone does. ;)
