DC/Warner's expectations are in the 100-110 million range, where they've been all along.

He's never hit less than a triple on his worst outing. Superman is a home run with bases loaded.

TBH, I worry a little now for Supergirl - I'm sure it'll be a great movie, but it will be different from this one. And DC may have just inadvertently set very specific expectations for the general audience with respect to what kind of movie something called "Super___" ought to be.

I'm glad that Supergirl completed production when it did - all in the can before Superman became an (apparent, so-far) hit.

As predicted, the usual suspects, including FOX News, are complaining that Gunn has made Superman "Woke"...

...Was that too obvious for the Bingo Card?
Hang on a sec. They claim the woke crowd are against everything with a straight white male protagonist. Now they are complaining about a film with a straight white male protagonist, does this mean they have become the woke crowd they claim to hate?

I'll see this when it dies down a bit. Meanwhile, I chuckle at the fan responses which almost always go to an extreme. This is either the best motherf'king Superman movie ever or the biggest POS ever made.

I imagine it'll be somewhere in the middle and will be a fun night at the movies.

I've seen exactly 3 James Gunn movies, all with "Guardians of the Galaxy" in the title. First one was amazing. I didn't like the second at all. The third was am emotional ride but being an animal lover, some of it was unbearable and I can't see myself going back to it. But it was better than the second.

Based on my experience with Gunn, Superman can fall anywhere in there. But TBH, I'm sick of hearing about it (and I'm not seeking it out - other than this thread).

Some people go out of their way nowadays to find something in everything to slap "woke" on, be it terminally online-types and / or folk who get a whiff of anything remotely left-leaning.

In a few years, at the term's current rate of expansion to encompass all things not attached to a glistening white heterosexual penis, this might be the only thing said glistening white heterosexual penis lovers deem acceptable.
