I'll be seeing Superman (and his trusty dog, Krypto!) this weekend, weather permitting.

Based on the early reviews I'm cautiously optimistic. Will be watching this on Monday with the folks.

It's not much like other superhero movies.

It's very much like no one has made a movie based on DC comics before. I mean, they've borrowed characters from the comics, and sometimes made excellent movies with them by creating various worlds in which they imagine that particular character can best exist dramatically on their own - I'm thinking mainly of Batman and Wonder Woman.

But this feels like the beginning of live action movies based on the DC comics universe. It's already all there.

BTW, there is one hysterical cameo that I don't think was ever rumored. I think about a fifth of the audience got it...at least it seemed like about that many laughed out loud.
