Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Not sure what my clinical goals would be based upon that presentation. :vulcan:

Shadows of the Empire is on the same level as Resistance to me, and I'm being kind. I'll leave it at that.

God, that’s such an amazing concept. Just pretend there’s a fourth movie crammed into the middle of the Star Wars trilogy, and make everything that goes along with it. Toys, a video game, a novelization, a soundtrack album. There’s an entire score for an imaginary Star Wars movie. It’s just a thing someone did.

Shadows Of The Empire | Lucasfilm's mid-to-late 1990's EU multimedia project - at the OT.com

Loved all those old 'Multi Media Projects' they did - SOTE, 2002-07 Clone Wars, Rebel Commando, and The Force Unleashed (which even formed part of the main Saga according to George).

I liked the Shadows of the Empire game, I never read the novel or comic.

Each part of the project told a different story. Like for example the game wasn't an adaptation of the novel or comic, the game just focuses on what Dash Rendar was doing during the same time period.

The comic was not an adaptation of the novel either, it was its own story.

I have the novel someplace. It was alright for the time. They have kept several things from it in canon in The Clone Wars and Rebels.

The novel was okay from what I remember, but not great. But even back in the '90s, I thought Dash Rendar was a cheap knockoff of Han Solo. Never understood why some people got attached to the character.

From how Doug Chiang tells it (relayed via Pablo Hidalgo), the YT-2400 was designed for ANH SE first, and then given to the SOTE team as a possible design for the Outrider.

So the ship leaving Mos Eisley wasn't originally intended to be the Outrider, it just became that through lore.

A YT-2400 also shows up in Rebels, IIRC they brought the original designer onboard to design the Rebels version.

The only thing that leaps to mind that wasn't borrowed from the SE project (Outrider, Swoops, that bow-legged droid thing etc.) is the Faleen and Black Sun, and even then it's mostly just the aesthetics. The Coruscant Guard design (IIRC that one was purpose designed by the toy people, not LF) for example was a no-show, instead replaced with the CSF undercity cops developed for Underworld. Also the design they settled on for Ord Mantell in CW (in the unfinished Maul arc, later grand-fathered into 'Bad Batch' and further refined) looks nothing like it's depiction in the game. I think Dash and Xizor have since been mentioned in passing in some comics and/or reference books or other, but nothing substantial and certainly nothing overseen by GL.

Best to keep in mind that SotE was literally thrown together at the last minute to fill a licencing/merchandising gap when it became clear that the TPM would take at least a year longer than expected to make.

The SOTE MMP seems like only a couple of years ago! ;) I'd forgot they started work on this way back in 1994 - and was in development for a solid 2 years before being released (in the main) for 1996.

I can't remember if anyone has posted these, but a Youtube channel named SWFT has been doing a whole series of character or theme based Andor videos.

Really good channel, mate. Quite a bit of thought, attention, and quality editing goes into their videos. :techman:

No nominations for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, or Best Supporting Actress.

Eh, the nominations it has scored are pretty impressive. I'm not going to whine about the nominations it didn't get, even if I do feel some of the "snubbed" deserved to be at least nominated.

Depressing but they've long had a blind spot for consistently terrific acting performances (see Rhea Seehorn). Weirdly, much as I like Whittaker I think his character is one of Andor's weak points because they don't really know how to use him. He's just there.
