I admit I would like to see a SNW writer try to explain the change in April’s race. I dare them. :vulcan:

It's simple, just ask Winston Zeddemore:

That's...painful.
Is it? Because I freaking loved it - other than the reimagined Klingon stuff. That was off-putting. But the new animation completely revitalized the dialog. The edits were choppy - mostly because the creator is making an abridged version - but this is totally on the right track.

Had he/she just stuck with the original Klingon designs and maybe tweaked the voice so it didn't sound like Doohan and then updated the animation as seen, this would be a home run.

Even Uhura's line "well, we could always throw rocks" is now suddenly hilarious because of the decision to not do a closeup. Just a quick rack focus and then back, everyone just ignoring it.

Honestly, as a proof of concept, I would back it. I'd love to see the entirety of TAS redone like this.

It's often not what I would have done. (I adore the TAS cargo ships for one.) But as an example of the thought that went into this: The Glommer scene has so much character and nuance.

And even if this was bad (and it's not) the work that had to go into this is staggering.

Kudos and well done.

EDIT: Oh! Somehow I didn't see the prelude when I watched this before. Interesting. Not really necessary (it spoils Cyano's entrance) but interesting.

I watch Japanese Anime' and wished TAS would be redone in that detailed way with the latest non-cgi techniques while reusing the original voices, sound Fx and music - except for Young Spock. He was annoying and was the worst part of Yesteryear.

Agree with everything you said ! The Klingon stuff seemed … badly acted… but maybe could be better. Spot on comment re: Uhura line.

i've just always wanted someone to fan-edit TOS music and cues into it instead of the 70 cartoon ones. it would fit a lot better than way IMO.

Hi,

Please review the posting rules pinned at the top of this forum, particularly the one about resurrecting dead threads.

I’ll let it slide this time but please don’t do it again.

Thanks!
I am new, I appreciated seeing the fan made TAS vids and wouldn't have read thru this otherwise. Maybe stop allowing comments after a year of inactivity unless a mod rules otherwise?

Well, another solution is for posters to read and follow the rules they agreed to when they opened their account.

Just sayin’…

;)

It’s really easy to start a new thread and link to the old one in an opening post, as the rules state. There are several reasons why it’s done this way.

In any event, a gentle reminder is not the end of the world. No formal warnings given, etc. it’s all good.

:techman:

Let’s not derail this thread any further.

Carry on.

I'm not crazy about the art work of peoples' faces. Spock's nose is too big, and there's something weird about everyone's face.

I believe Daren Dochterman has done this but I don't think he has made them available.

Otoh I love the TAS music and I wouldn't change it anymore than I would rescore TMP with TOS music or TWOK with TMP.

The likenesses in TAS are hard to beat.

I don't know who that is, but man, I would LOVE to see them some day.

I guess I am just a tiny bit too young to appreciate the... idk, 70sness of it all. Never been too fond of most 70s cartoons, other than maybe Scooby Doo. I grew up in the 80s, and it was already a bit dated by then. Now that I think of it, though, I would probably enjoy hearing a rescore of the movies as well. I have a fan-edit of The Final Frontier, that cuts it up and rescores it into a TV series pilot, and I feel that it adds absolutely so much to it, it is one of my favorite cuts of the film. I wish I had it in higher quality.

I have no problem with the likenesses, though. Obviously, I have still watched through the series a number of times lol.
