Hey Firebird! Believe it or not, I *just* stumbled into this thread and have been fascinated by this two-year-old convo— which already feels ancient. Was intrigued by your frustration/critique— not sure what we've ever gone back to more than twice, and even then with a different guest to get a different perspective— but now I'm curious to know what it was.
Just to say also, the show is about Gene's unseen files, whether they concern TOS, TNG, the movies or from Majel's era ... or his college speeches from the Guru Gene era, or interviews, his pre-Trek work. Or personal life at any time.
All from the POV that even if not an actual Trek show memo/story/letter/photo/blueprint, it affected or relfected his life — and so ultimately offered insight into Trek and/or its longterm DNA. And with the years passing and the culture shifting now, younger viewers may not always have context for pre-cellphone,pre-Internet, pre-million-channel causes for the lanbdscape. (BTW: Sorry you don't care for the "annual" fan mail show— we and most viewers always have a hoot with it,—but I try to make fans of other eras human and show what passion looked like in the "stamps & paper" days. At least it's only one epsiode a season, so you can easily skip it. But thanks for watching enough to be frustrated. Can I call you a Trekofile?
