Their marketing team is gonna have to pull off a miracle in the next couple years. Momentum and excitement for these films are all but dead, and there’s no sign F4:FS is going to turn that around.
I would say there is no point in doing the Avengers as big splashy movies at this point. And I've been looking forward to them. The delay is going to hurt Fantastic Four as well--I was just getting excited for the wrap up to this stage of the Marvel movies because I want to see what they do with the X-Men afterward. If it helps speed up production, I would say make Doomsday and Avengers/Fantastic Four movie and get it out sooner.
EDIT: Someone mentioned Spider-Man might still come out on time, so at least there's a summer MCU offer.
But these days most people probably only think about Alec Guinness from "Star Wars." My guess is lots of youngsters never even seen "The Bridge on the River Kwai" "Doctor Zhivago" or "Lawrence of Arabia."
That was kind of my point. Portman doesn't really seem to like the Marvel movies, except maybe the paycheck as she'd rather do something more "cinema". Luckily she's at a different stage in her career than Guinness was so she won't be remembered for being Jane Foster.
