Nope, but it does seem like he was still very hands-on.
The topic of the thread is about Shatner coming back at 93 to actually play Kirk again.

I feel like he has a better idea about his character than Patrick Stewart does on his. One of the reasons Picard wasn't very good was because of his input.Nope, but it does seem like he was still very hands-on.
WellWell it can't be any worse than Luke's return in Star Wars.
the movies, too.I feel like he has a better idea about his character than Patrick Stewart does on his. One of the reasons Picard wasn't very good was because of his input.
The problem was - Patrick Stewart didn't want to just do a rehash of the 24th century Jean Luc Picard (which let's face it in that this was exactly what TNG fans wanted.)I feel like he has a better idea about his character than Patrick Stewart does on his. Unfortunately there's that. The audience wants one thing but the actors/writers want another. The problem was - Patrick Stewart didn't want to just di a rehash of the 24th century Jean Luc Picard (which let's face it in that this was exactly what TNG fans wanted.)
Stewart wanted to have the character be profoundly affected and changed by those 30 years - and he put a lot of input into how that should be shown. He wanted a 'new" Picard to play; and he got what he wanted.
This belongs in a (space)museum!!I just don't know why they didn't just make a futuristic Indiana Jones like story. That would have fit his strange parameters and still be in line with his character.
The actors are never the characters you love, so this is always a bad idea.Unfortunately there's that. The audience wants one thing but the actors/writers want another.
Fans engaged to the 3rd series more as it was basically an TNG epilogue.
Chances are if Sir Patrick was pithed a TNG reunion outright he'd likely of said no. He wanted a Logan like send off for Picard methinks.
Could be. Or he could have just signed off on it.Nope, but it does seem like he was still very hands-on.
I think calling whatever that was "Luke's return" is being overly generous to the filmmakers.Well it can't be any worse than Luke's return in Star Wars.

I don’t see it happening anyway. Considering how slow they are in making Trek shows these days, he’ll be around 100 when they get to it.![]()
is anyone else worried that the requirements of a shooting schedule and all of that kind of thing would be dangerous for a 93-year-old?
Yup. A 34 year wait and what did we get. Luke considered murdering his nephew in his sleep, became a hermit because he basically was the last straw that caused Ben to go fully to the dark side, gave up on the republic, his friends and keeping the republic safe, drinking green milk out of a weird alien cow, got his butt kicked by rey, barely talked to R2 and Chewie, nearly burned all the jedi texts and embarrassed himself in front of yoda not knowing Rey took the texts, waited until the entire resistance was nearly gone to force project the most boring lightsaber battle in history with the most boring dialogue and last but not least died of suppsedly over using the force to make the force protection. No longer the greatest jedi.
There is no way they can make the return of shatners Kirk that bad. Right?......Right?
They should have offered something really good to shatner decades ago. Im not sure if its that they dont like him or his portrayal of Kirk but hes an icon to star trek fans and deserved more. Not many liked how he died in generations. Though they had nearly derailed the character of Picard by having him come back as a 90 plus year old retired admiral in the first two seasons. The 3rd season was better but still had its flaws. If they are going to do Shatners Kirk I want them to kerep his morality intact and not drag him through the mud of modern storytelling where good characters are not always so good.
We already know Kirk has his evil side.they are going to do Shatners Kirk I want them to kerep his morality intact and not drag him through the mud of modern storytelling where good characters are not always so good.
Not really. They can be accommodating and were for Christopher Lee and such.is anyone else worried that the requirements of a shooting schedule and all of that kind of thing would be dangerous for a 93-year-old?
