William Shatner Confirms Talks for Star Trek Return at 93 Years Old

No, thats the opposite of what I said.

If you don't write the character like crap, it will be great, even if it is unbelievable.

Dial's script trashed Indy/the movie, not Harrison's age.

yeah I know. But age is sad and depressing especially for someone who was majorly physical in their life. So we don't need to see Kirk again at 90+ years old. There is nothing they could do that could add to the character.

Plus his story is over. Well Shatner's version of the character.
I know I'm in the minority but I'm satisfied with the death of character. What better way to go out for Kirk, the odds against him, having a fist fight on some god forsaken alien planet. Making a difference one last time.

And if that one was no for you, you still have TUC.
"Captain's log, U.S.S. Enterprise, stardate 9529.1. This is the final cruise of the Starship Enterprise under my command. This ship and her history will shortly become the care of another crew. To them and their posterity will we commit our future. They will continue the voyages we have begun and journey to all the undiscovered countries, boldly going where no man, where no one, ...has gone before."

Great ending for our heroes.

While it is true Shatner and Stewart maintained a friendship after Generations, your sentence about their political affiliations is not at all accurate and I think you're confusing things. It sounds like you're referring to a 2015 interview where Ted Cruz said he believes "Captain Kirk is Republican and Captain Picard is Democrat." However, Shatner took issue with this statement saying that neither Star Trek nor he himself are political. Also, Shatner is not eligible to vote in the US and therefore can not be a Republican or be involved with any political party in the US. Stewart meanwhile is a member of Britain's Labour party, which is that country's leading left wing party but is not a 1:1 comparison to the Democrat party in the US.

To be honest I am not sure he is so much a Republican. But I know he complains about things being woke sometimes and he does get into the culture War from time to time. But to be fair he might also just be moderate. I still like the guy either way. It takes more than politics to dislike someone. He is still freaking James T. Kirk. Maybe the greatest tv hero of all-time.

This was perfect. Lmao.

That, but its a 60 minute road trip through space. IDGAF, it would be just about right for an anniversary special. Shatner would be in his element since he gets ALL the lines.

Ive never thought about kirks politics because I dont think he has any. Hes an explorer and a fighter when he needs to be. Thats it. Youre right hes the greatest TV hero of all time. As kids we all looked up to him and his values. TV heroes today always have serious flaws and always seem to be driven to the edge of darkness even murdering. To give a modern trek example Picard and Crusher attempted murder on a unarmed trapped shape shifter. Thats how modern writing is today. Kirk never committed murder as revenge. Not even Kruge in TSFS. He tried to save the klingon that killed his son and only killed him after Kruge tried to pull him dowm into the lava flow. At that point Kirk had no choice. It was the choice of living or dying with a klingon. I cant think of any time that kirk killed out of revenge or fear.

So if shatner does come back as kirk I hope its in the 25th century and not the 32nd. It would be great to see Kirk as an admiral again or even president of earth.

Maybe they could do something where Kirk is brought back, and Shatner deages into Paul Wesley. Will fans hate it with a passion not seen since the debut of Next/Enterprise/Discovery....yes. Is it more realistic than a 95 year-old man committing to anything beyond a cameo...also yes.

Shatner is coming back to play Chef from "Enterprise." He is now sold man. He wanted to see space one more time so PIke welcomes aboard the Enterprise. KIrk happens to be aboard and he ends up cooking him a meal.

Well, Anthony Montgomery has a long way to go before he would be described as geriatric, but I also don’t think a whole lot of people are itching to see Mayweather again, even now.
Personally, I’d be happy to.

I agree.

Also we saw Indy at 70 in the last movie not 80. I think Ford was 78/79 during filming. He has always been older then Indy in all the films. A lot of people are still Robust at 70... 😆...old Indy was not very physical in DOD. I think it's one reason a lot of people did not like the film. Not enough Indy action. So even if they did a 90 year old Kirk I don't think anyone would like it. They were pushing a lot of physical boundaries with Picard in Picard Season 1. Stewart was playing Picard older than himself. 90 I think. A 90 year old being thrown by an explosion the way Picard was would not have survived. I don't care what century it is.. 😂
Well, maybe the explosion momentarily killed him and caused a lot of damage, but 25th-century medical science quickly fixed him. :)

No, because Shatner had nothing to do with that.

"Shatner served as an executive producer for the project, working alongside Susan Bay Nimoy, widow of Leonard Nimoy, who also executive produced the film. His involvement went beyond a ceremonial title; he actively contributed to the creative and technical direction. According to OTOY, Shatner helped "fine-tune the technical and creative direction required to bring his interpretation of Kirk back to live action." This included providing his voice for a key moment in the film, notably a line from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan—"And if Genesis is indeed life from death, I must return to this place again"—which was incorporated with Paramount’s permission to enhance the emotional resonance of Kirk’s journey.
The film itself picks up after Kirk’s death in Star Trek: Generations, imagining a poignant afterlife scenario where Kirk, portrayed through a combination of live-action performance by Sam Witwer and advanced CGI de-aging technology, reunites with Leonard Nimoy’s Spock. Shatner’s participation was crucial in ensuring the portrayal aligned with his vision of the character. He described the technology used as something that "takes years off of your face, so that in a film you can look 10, 20, 30, 50 years younger than you are," reflecting his enthusiasm for the innovative approach that allowed him to revisit Kirk at age 93.
Shatner also promoted the film personally, surprising fans with a private screening at the Star Trek tour in Ticonderoga, New York, and sharing behind-the-scenes content on social media. His collaboration with the Nimoy Estate underscores the film’s intent to honor both Kirk and Spock, providing a long-desired farewell between the two characters that never occurred on screen during their original tenures. This connection highlights Shatner’s enduring legacy within the Star Trek franchise and his willingness to embrace cutting-edge technology to give fans a meaningful closure to Kirk’s story."

He was absolutely involved.
