The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

For a time my only real issue with Brosnan was that he didn't bring anything new to the table, and yes he is a mix of Moore and Dalton but there is more to him than that, it's the schoolboy glee. I think he's the one Bond who clearly loves being Bond.

Something I’ve noticed of recent fandom is the usage of one particular image of Brosnan Bond. Typically this was the image that was primarily used throughout his run by Eon, and variations of the same idea with later films.

It’s a pretty standard image of a stoic looking Bond holding a gun looking tough as business. But then sometime ago this next image was put out and I’m pretty sure it was just one of those outtake photos of Brosnan breaking his composure. However I’ve noticed fans have started to use this image as the primary photo of Broz practically everywhere because it’s the only one where he looks like he’s having the time of his life, and it can be used as a way of favorably contrasting Brosnan to Craig’s more serious demeanor. “Remember when Bond was fun?!”

^This; as a sign of the times, Dalton's Bond typically only hooked up with two women per movie vs. Moore's three. By Brosnan's time, they were back up to three again (at least for his first three films; I've tried to forget Die Another Day.)

It's only two in DAD (he doesn't get very far with Peaceful Fountains of Desire!)

Are we thinking the highest body count (ahem) is Lazenby in OHMSS? The lowest Craig in QoS? (unless something went on off camera with Camille in those caves of course)

I could see Aidan in the role, but he may be older than what they want now.

SNW Season 3 and Starfleet Academy. Doctor Who will be back around Easter I believe.

Turner was definitely too old for Eon, but Amazon might think differently. I guess one positive to a different approach might be the Batman approach I alluded to earlier, whereby a director gets to do a trilogy with one actor and that's it, they wait a few years and move onto the next guy.

The upside is that a lot of actors might be interested in doing 2/3 films who'd never have signed up to fifteen years and 5/6 films, and they can cast slightly older knowing that they don't need the guy to still be fit as a fiddle in ten years time.

There are downsides of course, you won't get a run of 4/5/6/7 films with the same Bond.

And Lazenby's Bond slept with all those women at Piz Gloria after he was in an official relationship with Tracy!

What would a Bond theme park be like I wonder?

The rollercoaster and big wheel from The Living Daylights?

Circus themed attractions from Diamonds are Forever, culminating in a live show where Bond, dressed as a clown, defuses an atomic bomb as in Octopussy.

For the adventurous a Goldeneye inspired bungee jump.

Play laser tag in Scaramanga's funhouse or ride the white knuckle bridge jump rollercoaster (complete with slide whistle)

And once the kids are safely tucked up in bed enjoy our casino, voodoo inspired dancers led by Baron Samedi (don't worry folks he's just an actor) and an extensive array of cocktails*

*ok they're mostly vodka martinis but you can get a Mojito if you insist.

I heard about this, this morning...

The CEO was being interviewed on a radio show, and The Bond Franchise is just one of many his company is being consulted on...he said Big and Small Studios, Production Companies, Studio Bosses, Et al, are working with him...

Well, that's certainly an opinion his 'bot has. FFS, nobody needed an AI to suggest Henry Cavill as the next Bond, folks have been saying that for years. :p

I think we will see this in the Amazon era.
I'm not seeing it. I think it would be more likely to see a Star Trek park and I don't think we'll see that either.

Will there be 007 themed roller coasters or some such somewhere? Sure.

Unlike Harry Potter or Star Wars the big deal about James Bond is seeing him do things that are difficult or expensive but usually around real places with real things.

Even the Lotus in TSWLM was a car (we have cars) that turned into a submarine (and we have submarines). (Damn that was cool, though.) But what is the experience from inside the vehicle when it goes from being a car to a sub? Unless it's just a first person motion ride?

James Bond is just real life dialed up to 11. (Which is why Fleming wrote it.)
