Bret could be a female. There's the actress Brett Somers, who was married to Jack Klugman.Maybe Bret is his own man and not looking for daddy's approval? He's not the loyal assistant or the copycat.

True. Had a childhood friend, his name was "Brett". So kind of a default for me.Bret could be a female. There's the actress Brett Somers, who was married to Jack Klugman.

Spent many an afternoon with her and her friends.
That Brett?![]()
Yeah, though I was not creeped out about him falling in love with a simulation of her I was very annoyed that he acted like, well , not to mince words, a jerk when she would not reciprocate in reality. Other than that, I was fine with it. It Sci Fi so it's not gonna have a regular approach to relationships all the time. They may have just wanted to show off their holoprogram for all I know. I remember him telling Barclay that he ONCE fell in love in there as a cautionary tale. I think the whole Leah thing was more to give him a happy ending than naming some random woman. That’s probably besides the point, but I always found it super silly that they would make Leah Brahms his wife in the “All Good Things …” future. Just seems kinda weird after she had already rejected him in the earlier episode. If this was some wish fulfilment dream scenario for La Forge, then sure, make her Leah Brahms. But if this was supposed to depict the “actual” or likely future, I think it’s silly that it’s supposed to be Brahms.
And while I do think they intended for the Leah he mentions to Picard to be the Leah Brahms we know, I also think it’s easy to imagine that his wife just coincidentally happens to also be called Leah.
Definitely. Mentioning “Leah” was meant as a deep cut reference for long-time viewers of the show. And as such I appreciated it. At least mentioning “Leah” meant something, when a random name wouldn’t. And as I said, as long as this basically was just some “dream scenario” I didn’t mind it, but if this was some actual storyline on the show, I would find it weird that they would make them a couple after she had rejected him in the earlier episode. Not impossible, of course, but I don’t really like it.Yeah, though I was not creeped out about him falling in love with a simulation of her I was very annoyed that he acted like, well , not to mince words, a jerk when she would not reciprocate in reality. Yes, that is a head scratcher. Both daughters have taken up positions he once held. She should have gone into security or medicine to truly “rebel.”Was going to start a new thread about Sidney. But might be better better of here.
Its implied she has this strained relationship that she became a pilot and helmsman and not an engineer. I didn't get that as Geordie was also the helmsman in s1 of TNG. Surely that mirror his career?
Not like she was working in quark's as a dabo girl. Helmsman of starship is very respectable.Yes, that is a head scratcher. Both daughters have taken up positions he once held. She should have gone into security or medicine to truly “rebel.”
Is that how he built holo-Leah? Why would Geordi have access to psych records?Apparently the psych records on her weren't too terribly accurate
Ah, I didn't remember that little factoid that she was married, all right. But yeah, could have played out in innocent ways, too. Quite possibly they divorced because their marriage hit rock bottom (nothing to do with Geordi) or the husband died (well, that's only innocent when assuming his death had nothing to do with Geordi).
