Anyone else annoyed that there are no TOS Klingons in SNW yet?

Well, they'd have shorter haircuts or more Movie/TNG-style hair, I'd imagine. The Klingons from the Forehead Arc of ENT were shaggy and unkempt because they were volunteers for the project dressed in civilian clothing.

When’s the last time we saw a Klingon with short hair?

Pony tail
Oh..well in that case.

Some of Kol-Sha's house had short pony tails, or short dreads.

I don't miss the TOS Klingons. As mentioned already, they were derived from tropes regarding to how to depict "bad guys" in movies and TV that ultimately come from dated, racist stereotypes.

Although there was some variability in skin tone (Kras for example was not in brownface to the degree that Kor and Kang were, and neither was Koloth), the result was that the Klingons without the heavier makeup just looked human, which was unfortunate. (I'm not counting Arne Darvin, who was supposed to appear human.)

We finally got genuinely alien Klingons in TMP, and it's a good thing that Star Trek hasn't looked back.*/**/*** :techman:

* - Again, what TMP did was what was practical in the day, but this time it was in the movies.
** - ... for the most part. How I wish there hadn't been any need to dig into DS9's brilliant "we do not discuss it with outsiders" joke. :(
*** - Of course, the conceit at the time was that how they were in TMP was how Klingons had been supposed to look all along, and the show just lacked the budget to do them right. :klingon:

LDS is a stretch. If it had spent even a season looking different then maybe.
EDIT: This is in response to "All Kurtzman ships are restored to their original appearance" or something. I apparently got dropped in the middle of the thread and didn't realize it.

Klingons: I'm honestly on the fence. (I'm certainly not annoyed.) On the one hand a "modern" TOS Klingon could be fun. OTOH I hate the hoops that the shows have gone through to justify the visual differences.

If ENT hadn't stepped in it already it would have been great if they had been another part of the, ohhhh, what's the word I'm looking for? EMPIRE.

Of course then you have the issue of having the, ahem, "swarthy" bad guys with the Fu Manchu mustaches.
EDIT: There has also been considerable conversation about Star Trek Blackface that I missed.

I prefer the white guys with hipster goatees. ;)

By the way, I wanted to ask whether anyone else is remembering what I am with respect to TAS. I know they recolored at least some of the show when they did the DVD release, definitely in the case of the background color of the pocket universe in "The Time Trap," that was inexplicably and unjustifiably changed from blood red to black, and they carried that over to the Blu-ray version. But that's not what I'm asking about.

I'm asking about another possible recoloration, with respect to the Klingons. I seem to remember them being distinctly orange, back when I was watching TAS first run and later in syndication on CRTs. Am I misremembering? Does anyone else remember the same? Did they recolor the orange Klingons to brown for the DVD and Blu-ray releases?
