Keep making stuff fans don’t want or are ambivalent about then scratch your balls wondering why your franchise is failing.
I hear this argument a lot, and I kind of hate it. If we avoided concepts the fans were complaining that they didn't want in advance, we wouldn't have Deep Space Nine, Lower Decks, or Prodigy. If the execution is good, people will usually show up for it eventually.

This.

I'm tired of predictability. Brave and new means same and old apparently.

I watched it expecting from all the reviews and negative fan talk to watch the worst thing ever made but instead had a pleasant 90 minutes of mindless fun, so I encourage people to give it a try. And no, I don't just watch every Trek without question, as some may remember me posting I quit Lower Decks in disgust in the middle of episode 5 and only came back sporadically in the last season (because the show was ending) and even THOSE few episodes I came back to in the last season I found myself checking the time to wonder when the LD episode would end (never did that once with Section 31).

I watched it yesterday, and holy hell that has to be the worst thing I have seen in awhile. The beginning just felt so horrible because I tried to watch is as trek. about 30 minutes in I was able to to ignore that aspect and just focus on the movie, but it did not make it any better. It try's to copy other action movies, mostly suicide squad, but it just does it so so badly.

Thing is, with DS9 they kept the foundation of trek while also trying something new.

the entire film is good until the very end, I hate seeing the face of jamie lynn curtis. She's so obnoxious

Keep making stuff only the fans want and scratch your balls wondering why you're putting so much effort into chasing the approval of a rapidly shrinking base of hardcore obsessives.

I watched it. It wasn’t very good.
I keep hearing that. I still plan to watch it anyway, I've enjoyed most new Trek and I think I can forgive them the occasional miss. Besides, there's a LOT I'll forgive to see Michelle Yeoh kicking dudes in the face.

Making movies that receive such bad reviews isn’t going to win the race either though.
Nowadays with such a myriad of content to watch a lot of potential viewers rely solely on reviews to determine if something is worth their time.

I’m a long (long) time Trek fan but nothing about this project appeals to me,so even your obsessive fan base isn’t guaranteed to show up either.
The entire S31 thing doesn’t appeal to me especially when it is mixed in with and treated like the Mirror universe malarkey.
Anyway…whatever.

I think every Trek fan should watch it. They can learn what "truly bad" is. They have a bottom of the barrel on how truly shitty Star Trek can be.

Unless they want to be purely niche and not appeal to general audiences.

Which is fine but at least be honest. Trek only for Trek fans.
