I think every Trek fan should watch it. They can learn what "truly bad" is. They have a bottom of the barrel on how truly shitty Star Trek can be.
That would be Star Trek V and several other Trek movies. Section 31 is Citizen Kane compared to V

You don't have to be a homer, it is okay to admit when something is just plain bad. Star Trek V is largely a bad movie but has a solid emotional core with Kirk, Spock and McCoy which makes it worth watching. Even Insurrection, my personal worst Trek film until this last Friday, had the Gilbert and Sullivan routine that helps save it, even if just a little.

I just found nothing redeeming about Section 31. Which is why, for me, it is at the bottom of the pile. Though I do wonder why we are comparing a TV movie to feature film outings?

Star Trek II was made by Paramount's television unit :p

I think it's fair to compare a feature-length story to another feature-length story as as long as you're aware of the context they were made and you're not judging a film with no theatrical release on its box office.

Hey, I'll compare anything to anything. Section 31 was worse than Calypso but better than Ephraim and Dot.

It was. Because originally it was going to be a TV movie.

It would be more fair to compare Section 31 to feature length TV productions. Things like the pilots and the Voyager TV movies.

i think Osunsanmi directed those too!

Wait, i think he directed Calypso and The Girl Who Made the Stars.

How do you go from the quality of Calypso, to S31? I don't know

It started production with the Television division (it was to be the first of a 4 TV movie series for NBC.)

But actual production was handed to the feature film division once the decision was made to make it a theatrical film release

I wasn't thrilled by the idea of it before it released and now it's out, it's getting roundly panned so... it's very unlikely I will waste any time on this.
