2026 TOS novels

No news yet about the books that far ahead yet from the conventions as far as the news from Virtual trek con and chill or Trek movie.

Looking over the threads from 2020s, the earliest we've gotten any news about any novels for the next year is April of the previous year, though June tends to be the most common timeframe. Meanwhile, a 60th anniversary novel is most likely to be released in or around September, in which case we wouldn't hear about it until February of 2026. So yeah, definitely too early to hear about anything at this point.

And given the state of the novels these days, I'd only expect one novel to celebrate the 60th anniversary. From S&S anyway, I guess it's possible Titan might also release something like a new autobiography of a character, but that's the extent of 60th anniversary celebrations I'm expecting in prose form.

By 2026 they'll be releasing half a book per year. By 2026 they'll have announced and quietly cancelled 3 more Star Trek theatrical movies. By 2026 the only Trek on the air will probably the Office/Risa comedy show, which will defy all odds to become a huge hit and doom any non-office-comedy future Trek projects.

Exactly, novels and comics are published by two different companies, cutting back on one will not make room for the other.

Exactly. And, just to be clear, IDW and S&S pay CBS for the privilege of publishing Trek fiction, not the other way around, and they absorb all the production costs themselves. CBS does not not subsidize the books and comics out of some sort of general "Trek fiction" budget.

So IDW writing fewer checks out of their own pocket would not mean more funds for S&S.

I have a feeling we're more likely to get a big comic miniseries from IDW than anything significant from Gallery.
"Lore War" is right around the corner and it looks like it fits that bill.
