The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

Why are things taking so long with James Bond?

Eon and Amazon are indeed having clashes of what to do with the Bond franchise

-One wants keep it close to their chest
- The other wants to dilute it into an MCU/Star Wars franchise and develop content(which apparently it touched a nerve when Amazon reps called Bond "content".)

Broccoli, 64, who has fully taken the reins of the franchise, has told friends that the people at Amazon are, “f***ing idiots.” She doesn’t believe Amazon is a great fit for Bond, and has taken the franchise “hostage,” refusing to develop any new films under their banner.

I had a feeling they don’t want the franchise to be diluted like “Star Wars” did when Disney took over

“young M” series

The early days of Moneypenny

The office type antics of Q branch

Jane Bond exclusively on Amazon Prime

New James Bond cartoon

Ahem, considering how outlandish some of the older films in the series got I find that statement a bit silly. It already got diluted a lot with entries like YOLT and Moonraker which was the most outlandish Bond

Only that walker has probably got guns in the handles

I think that "diluted" comment is more about spin-offs. That too is a bit odd, as Eon were themselves considering spin-off movies for both Wai Lin and Jinx. Although, they ultimately didn't, so maybe that "diluting" was a fear even back then.

I think spin off movies in the same universe would have given them a lot more material to work with and widened the whole Bond world. I kind of liked the idea. I mean they already did a cartoon set in this universe in the 90s so why not just embrace it and do it.

I would have preferred a Kara Milovy spinoff. In each film installment, she would find herself wandering doe-eyed into yet another international espionage caper, a constant distraction from her successful career as a concert cellist. She would comment, Die Hard 2-style, each time how improbable it was that she kept getting into these crazy situations. Also, at some point in each movie, when Kara again did something reckless but awesome, a male character would be moved to huff in exasperation, "Women!"

Would definitely watch the heck out of that series.

From Russia with Feces! Three years of unBonding is no reason to connipt on such a trivial subject as the inevitable 29th installment of a halfway-excellent movie series. How come there's no IPCRESS FILE Saturday morning cartoon or BOURNE VASECTOMY survival kit?

I never believed there would be Bond female spinoffs. That includes Jinx, despite the press. The highest-grossing Berry movies are full of mutated nature-freaks, so for her, Bond-style flicks would only offer half as many of them. She had her best direction with the Wachowski Siblings in CLOUD ATLAS.

That being vented, I often wished every single Bond film from RUSSIA WITH LOVE on began with the last heroine asking Bond on the phone ''What do you MEAN you're dumping me?'' In no time it'd become a prolific drinking game.

When I thought up alternate awards and nominations for classic movies I was considering making Lois Maxwell the Susan Lucci of her day, nominating her 14 times, then going up in smoke each time. Yes, that's too cruel. Ultimately I only give her a Best Supporting Actress slot for GOLDSOMETHING, but she lost to Shirley Eaton. Personally, I think her absolute finest high-point is ''The code words are: I love you. Repeat it please,'' from YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE.:borg:
