The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

O'Conner was very good in the Crown, but I can't not see Charles when I see him in stuff now. He was in Lee recently and again v good.

He's not someone who jumped out at me as Bond though, I might never have considered ATJ but the moment his name started being mentioned my initial reaction was "Ok, I can see that." With O'Conner not so much.

If there is any truth to the story, then the fact that his charm and wit are factors may indicate we're returning to lighter, more fun films? I would not be opposed to that.

All of my picks are rapidly getting too old. (I mean, aren't we all?)
Theo James
Tom Hiddleston
Henry Cavil

Probably, unless they wanted to do something clever like limit them to a trilogy and make parts 2 and 3 back to back. If they stick to between 3-5 years between films each of those guys would be into their 50s by the time they make their third film.

QFT.

Mind you, I'm not advocating full-on street-ready gondola, but there's a whole lot of welcome lightening up to be had that's well short of that.
Yeah, I'd agree with that, though it does depend on the actor they choose, but it'd be nice to have some fun Bond films again (and I say that as someone who lists Dalton and Craig as his two favourite Bonds)

I was a little puzzled that the Hello story didn’t link to the Hollywood Reporter, despite naming it as the source for the O’Connor story, so I checked out THR itself. There is a prediction that Josh will be unveiled as 007 but it’s in the context of one of those end-of-year features where writers give their predictions for the year ahead. I have admittedly seen him on a longlist for the role before and I wouldn’t rule him out, because, as the feature says, Barbara tends to do her own thing. But I’m not so sure that she will cast two unconventionally handsome* actors in a row.

*your view of them may differ.

I think TLD, at least, retains a good bit of fun, despite Dalton's more serious approach to the character. There's really no reason you have to go all farce or all tragedy. There's plenty of middle ground to work with.
