I think they must have, it's too obvious and they know it might mean trouble otherwise. Did the dreadnought showing up as an Eaglemoss in PIC cause any stir in that regard? I don't remember that being an issue.

I seem to remember a small fuss was made whereby they couldnt  say it was the Dreadnought class for legal reasons. Its somewhere in Dave Blass's tweets, I think. Maybe Terry Matalas?

Yeah, Blass had to deny it was the Federation-class.

There was an earlier incident where Disco used the FJ Federation flag logo without permission - the "two faces" one.

He could have made them TMP refits, and he wouldn’t have gotten in trouble, since it’s only the TOS-style design that FJ’s estate has the rights to.

No, the Dreadnought in the Starfleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph. Three nacelle ship in the TOS era.

Is S-31 tech x-amount years ahead of general Federation tech or am I misremembering from one of those novels?

Section 31 already had comm badges in the 2250s as per Disco S2, but I'm pretty sure that's the only indication anywhere that they're tech is more advanced than regular Starfleet.
