Right?!? God forbid we have a discussion on discussion forum.
It is a dull and unimaginative base for a series. It just is what it is. I'd rather watch paint dry, than wallow in nostalgia... yet, again.
For all the talk of cults, the only one here seems to be dedicated to astroturfing opposition to continuing the NuTrek project that appealed to the broadest portion of the fanbase and even managed to break into mainstream attention. And of course last week that small-l legacy adjacent OTOY short dropped, which again received widespread acclaim.

It is weird to me, but to each their own. I think this place needs a boogeyman to get by, that's my theory.

I'll also say that calling that short "Legacy adjacent" is certainly a stretch. It's got more connections to the Kelvin timeline, Discovery, and even Enterprise than it does with "Legacy."
Should we only be positive about things?

All I said was I do not want Legacy, as in, not my first choice. I do however support the desire to make it and would hope that fans of it get what they want. It's not my first choice. But, that's my opinion. I don't believe in mainstream attention, or appealing to the fanbase; I want a good story.

Put me down as a “No” to Legacy. I’d still watch it anyways though. I’m much more interested in Matalas doing that Vision Series on Disney+.
I used to be a substitute teacher. I did elementary school, high school, both were okay. Then there was middle school. I did that for one day, then I thought, "Never again!" Now I remember why.
The interesting thing about the reaction to the Unification short is that we once again get a full display of the double standards and hypocrisy That Segment of fandom engage in. Specifically, the people who want pre-2009 Trek to remain "pure and untainted" by the modern stuff. Hell, there are some who even enter threads for new TOS novels in the Lit forum wanting to know if there's any Disco or SNW references in them, as they "cannot in good conscience read them if there are." Yet, Unification seems to have universal support and praise, even from That Segment despite the presence of two characters from Disco, one in a very prominent role.
Between this, the adulation Picard S3 gets and even the fact that some vocal critics of Disco perked up and paid attention upon hearing the promotional material indicating the fifth season was a sequel to TNG episode, it's starting to make it look like all you need is copious fanwank and a vocal percentage of the fandom will declare it a Masterpiece and the Greatest Ever. Distressing fact for those of us who want Star Trek to expand and grow, to be a tree rather than an ouroboros.
Though writing this has made me wonder how That Segment would react if Legacy did become a thing, and Michael Burnham appeared in an episode...

Yep. Throw in a bunch of references to shit they remember from 30 years ago and they'll go gaga for it. Especially if it somehow overrides something from "nuTrek." Do that and you'll even get a 2 hour gush fest on Trekyards and a RMB Podcast.

Disney and Marvel are almost certainly paying him more than Paramount would. And besides, he's also got other projects like the Enemy Mine remake and a Magic The Gathering TV series.Hopefully Lord Matalas hears our desperate prayers and leaves Visionquest and returns for Legacy
I just thought it was an excellent tribute to seeing Kirk and Spock for the last time. Doesn't matter to me what was referenced.
Kurtzman and Co. are not potted plants.
I fully anticipate they'll add their little wrinkle to Legacy (they did it with SNW).
