News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

Another thing that the show never did that I never realized until a recent D-Con Chamber episode - Travis never had a scene in the decon chamber. Everyone else in the cast got their moment in there.
Though he was just as shirtless pretty much as often as Archer or Tucker.

SOBER UP!!!

Wait....

Times like this reminds me of how predictable life can be. How we as people tend to repeat so many of the same patterns over and over. Doomed to forever live in a ongoing never ending cycle of repetitiveness. Maybe someday we will learn how to break out of these behaviors. But today is not that day.

STAR TREK:ORVILLE.

If you have to use a character who was only in four DS9 episodes to make a point about the Discovery bridge crew then I think it actually makes the opposite point. ;)

And yet, her name was in the opening credits the exact same number of times as theirs.

The opening credits set the expectations. Have since we all first started watching TV.

The man didn't get a promotion until 29 years later on Lower Decks (and yes, Garrett Wang is coming back as LIEUTENANT Harry Kim)
Nothing says that’s Prime Kim.

In fact he’s in the wrong uniform. He’d be most likely be wearing first contact grey like Tom did in Season 2.

I'm holding out hope it's Prime Kim.

And expecting the timeline to be changed or him to be demoted by the end of the episode.

No, its on the person assuming that because they are on the bridge they are "main characters". A question easily answered by looking at the opening credits.
That's one theory, but it doesn't explain why no one had any issue with Next Gen's helmsmen like Jae, or Ayala on Voyager, or minor characters on basically every other show on TV. It's a problem that pretty specific to Discovery.

People don't look at the credits to see who's going to be important in a story, they look at the story.

Are you talking about the opening titles, or the names that come on screen after the titles?
Because they don't do the post-titles credits on Trek no mo' so I don't know if that's a completely fair comparison.

Detmer and Owo had plenty of lines and were in about 50 eps each. Regardless of credit placement, it's not weird to expect them to be people instead of props. They could have given them more to do, but chose not to. It's that decision that some people are arguing with.

They might have had more to do if they hadn't wasted so much time on Mirror Georgiou. The character just did not work.

Sounds like a "them" problem.

And what do the stories say? That they are not main characters.

The beginning of the Mirror stuff was good: Having to act evil to stay undetected, while being disgusted about it all, like slaves bathing you, ending up in soup, previous friends like that officer from the pilot in his mirror form trying to kill you and you having to kill them, all while pretending it's nothing unusual and you maybe even enjoy it - that was interesting and new. The Emperor's reveal was an ok twist. And we finally saw what kind of ship the Emperor has. The frisbee mass murder was also a great surprise, and we learned what happened after Hoshi took the Defiant.
