Spoilers Canon, Continuity, and Pike's Accident

Can anyone remember the last mention of the crew size in SNW? I can only remember it being said by Burnham in DSC S2.

Have you ever been engaged Mr. Spock? Chapel to Spock....what are little girls made of... 😂

Chapel has a very bad memory. She had sexual intercourse with Spock. But somehow she forgot all about it. Even totally forgot T'pring...

Yup. Only thing I can surmise is after the Pike mission Chapel asks spock to make her forget. Like he did with kirk.

No, that's not the implication at all.

I watch that scene and it's not a loaded question like so many of you retcon In your heads or go around on social media stating it as fact. She apparently forgot. 😂 Something happened to her in between SNW and TOS to completely forget she did the Vertical Vulcan with Spock. 😂 All their scenes in TOS do not and never will come off as being together previously. It just doesn't play that way no matter how people try to justify it. It is a complete and utter rewrite that ignores established continuity. Just like Khan being a little Kid in the 2020's. Complete disregard for continuity imo. The sad thing is it didn't have to be like this and none of these changes were necessary to make the stories anymore interesting. Would have been better to start Chapel out with another guy or Korby and they could have shown the beginnings of her torch carrying for Spock. Would have been a nice tie in to TOS. But no they had to go a route that was completely off the rails from TOS. Everyone knows T'pring. Spock and Chapel get intimate. Kirk knows Pike well....etc etc.

Uhura does not know T'Pring.

Kirk speaks of Pike as "Chris" indicating familiarity.

Continuity has always been mutable within Trek. The question is are you willing to play with it or laugh at those of us who want to try and make it fit? :vulcan:

Chapel did not know T'pring either. And Kirk met Pike when he was promoted to To fleet captain. Not before not after and he met him, Did not know him on a intimate level like Spock.

And yes I do think it's funny people try to make it fit. It doesn't and it won't ever fit. Continuity has never been perfect in Trek or any other TV show. But it's never been this far off the path. We have discussed this over and over again. It's gotten so bad I cannot view SNW as anything but a complete reboot/alternate timeline. Which is fine. I will never look at it as a true prequel to TOS. I just cannot.

That's fine.

I can.

There's nothing funny about it.

This feels an awful lot like the summer of 2001....

The only time Chapel and T'Pring appear "together" is when T'Pring sends her message from Vulcan. Her reaction shot could mean many things.
Uhura is part of that scene as well. She clearly doesn't know or recognize T'Pring. My recollection is T'Pring and Uhura do not cross paths in SNW, but I could be wrong.
UHURA: Captain. We're standing by on Vulcan hailing frequencies, sir.
KIRK: Open the channel, Lieutenant. Vulcan Space Central, this is the USS Enterprise requesting permission to assume standard orbit.
VULCAN [OC]: USS Enterprise from Vulcan Space Central. Permission granted. And from all of Vulcan, welcome. Is Commander Spock with you?
SPOCK: This is Spock.
VULCAN [OC]: Standby to activate your central viewer, please.
(Nurse Chapel enters.)
CHAPEL: Doctor, what's going on?
(The viewscreen lights up with the image of a very beautiful woman.)
T'PRING [on viewscreen]: Spock, it is I.
SPOCK: T'Pring, parted from me and never parted, never and always touching and touched. We meet at the appointed place.
T'PRING [on viewscreen]: Spock, parted from me and never parted, never and always touching and touched. I await you.
UHURA: She's lovely, Mister Spock. Who is she?
SPOCK: She is T'Pring. My wife.
Pike and Kirk meet for the first time in Lost in Translation, when Pike is (wait for it) promoted to Fleet Captain. We've no idea how "intimate" Kirk's relationship with Pike was. Dialog in The Menagerie indicates some familiarity. SNW indicates Pike has taken an interest in Kirk's career. So what we know from both are compatible.

You mean Enterprise? I really enjoyed Enterprise. I do remember all the crazy posts here about Akiraprise. 😂 Or all the anger that they had a transporter etc. but nothing major imo. Enterprises problem was not focusing enough a a couple characters. But it has some great episodes and the NX-01 looked archaic enough for me.

I enjoy SNW and Disco but just cannot think of them as a continuation of TOS/Berman Trek. But rather a complete reboot that incorporated a few elements images from those shows.

Continuity has never ever been this "mutable".

But during that whole scene in TOS Chapel looks totally surprised. She doesn't seem to even know Tpring existed. All during TOS chapel or Spock never give any indication they were previous lovers. They act at times like they hardly know each other.
