Five thousand years isn't that long for humans, even if you discount the Vulcan mass-telepathy theory for why Spock's personality changed. The 27th century BC was in the Bronze Age, well into the development of civilization. Homo sapiens have been more-or-less anatomically modern 200,000 years, and have had the monopoly on the greater human genus for 40,000 years. It was always odd that Spock was affected, but McCoy and Kirk weren't. It's not like McCoy started acting like a Neanderthal.
Didn't the landing party's hair change in Strange New Worlds (the episode) when Chapel shot them up with a genetic modifier? Is that what also changed their hairstyles?![]()
Thank you, I already feel entertained, I will love it...
Yeah, that sounds like the good version of this episode.Calling it right now.
The serum didn't just make them Vulcan, it made them Spock, in some way or another. Not only did it give them his logical personality, but also all his personal issues, including his internal feelings about being half Vulcan. Hence why they're so hard on him about being half Vulcan. It's because he's so hard on himself. By the end, they'll reach a greater understanding of his inner turmoil through this experience.

Except the characters refer to themselves as full Vulcan.Calling it right now.

I mean, the country she lives in is turning against people like her a lot.No, I normally LOVE her reviews, especially LDS, her joy in it is apparent, but her last couple of vids I've seen, Trek and non-Trek, have been... unhappy. She might be going through something, I really hope not.
We can just say they represent the Vulcan side of Spock or something.Except the characters refer to themselves as full Vulcan.
Maybe the serum made them the full Vulcan version of Spock as seen in Spock Amok.Except the characters refer to themselves as full Vulcan.

Vulcans gonna Vulcan. Being prejudicial pricks is part of the brand. And a way to comment on that attitude.Initial reactions: Love Uhura's new pre-serum hairstyle! Never thought Pike's Peak could get even taller, but the hair department defied physics once again.
Later reaction: I have to agree with Jessie Gender on the content of the scene. I get the comedy the writers are going for, but making his mixed-race heritage the butt of the joke is a serious misstep for a franchise that should damn well know better by now.
Are thee human or are thee Vulcan?Vulcans gonna Vulcan. Being prejudicial pricks is part of the brand. And a way to comment on that attitude.
Absolutely. But we can still make fun of it and/or dissect it, as we do every nook and cranny of old Trek.Sometimes... Sometimes you have to accept radical plot set-ups and contrivances in order for a story and character arc to happen.
