Dutton is damaged goods. I hope.

Don't like this China visa idea. No visa required for short visits. Just look at the protests over the weekend and tell me how that's going to go.

Because at the end of the day all governments are liars. The visa thing was to benefit business folks. Chins is bad but only when that is convenient.

The biggest issues with Nuclear is that it would take many years for them to be built and that cost more than renewables. And the fact that the liberals don't like renewables.

Dutton doesn't want to reveal the cost - from what I have heard. It's at least 3 times more than renewables.

Linky - https://www.cleanenergycouncil.org....arch-nuclear-six-times-the-cost-of-renewables

The sontaran in the human skin suit is trying to use the example of the nuclear plants here in Ontario as example.

dutton needs to do more research.

Those plants are 30+ years old and wear nearing the end of their life.

Instead they're undergoing re-furbishment to extend the life and that's a massive. One plant alone (with 4 generators) is going to cost $CA12.8bill - to update, not build.

Then there's the cost to build the SMR plants but didn't manage to find a pricetag for that project.

Construction is underway but first isn't due to be online until 2035.

And there's also one major different. There's experience in the construction and operating of nuclear plants. There's no such experience in Australia.

I think they asked him this today on the ABC and he muttered that we will have the expertise in coming years.

so the libs won't reveal the costing of their nuclear ideas until after the election and what there's crickets from much of the media.

guess they're too busy foaming at the mouth about labor's resposne to take dutton & co to task.

of course if labor delayed the release of costings there would be demands for blood and heads on platters.

Monday night's Media Watch looked the dutton's nuclear announcement and mentioned an article from Crikey that argue that the basis of this announcement was culture war.

The danger is adapting nuclear would have a detrimental impact on the renewals (solar, wind) sector which the lnp absolutely hate and that by pushing this approach they hope to kill it.

It's amazing, as plain as the nose on your face, yet so many don't see it!

2025: "You don't need renewables, we'll have nuclear soon! Vote for us!"
2040: "Oh, we couldn't get nuclear to work. Oh well, better stick with coal/gas."

Ding ding ding, and don't forget the Murdoch rags quoting his lies. He recently said "many G20 countries are going nuclear"
