Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Of course the only truly authentic original Star Wars is the one scribbled in pencil on a dozen sheets of lined and punched paper in May of '73, before Lucas ruined it by getting it typed up, bound and printed! That quite clearly crosses a line, and everything since then has been one desecration after another! ;)

Luke was a straight up gangsta in the Throne Room in these deleted scenes, even moreso than we see in the official edits that have been out since 1983.

"could have grew"? :sigh:

Anyway, yeah that's interesting, but I can see why it was deleted. For one thing, it would require committing to greater detail regarding the composition of Vader's armor. The strike Luke got in on Vader's shoulder in TESB was perplexing enough. This would have gone (or is it, "would have went"?) much further towards making people wonder how the fight could still go forward after such a strike.

If one compares the list of materials in Darth Vader's armor against materials classified as lightsaber-resistant, it's unclear to me where there's even any overlap at all.

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lightsaber#Lightsaber-resistant_materials

(Obviously, these lists wouldn't necessarily have ended up as they are today, had ROTJ been cut differently. But there's still the strike in TESB.)

I just saw that Outlaws is another game that cannot be installed without connecting to the internet. Bummer, I was gonna buy it. (And yes, I realize I'm in a tiny minority that pushes back against this. No need to tell me. ;) Some day there will be a game that I want to play badly enough to break my self-imposed rule, but this isn't it.)

Nice - some amazing quality and clever fan edits out there to suit almost everyone's tastes these days (for all across Star Wars). Love the adywan revisited edits for the OT too.

Not that I was going to buy that game either way, but I agree with you on that notion. I find it incredibly annoying that so many games are like that now, even those that shouldn't need an internet connection to operate for the most part. It all comes down to them want you to spend your real money on their game and in order to do that in-game, you have to have that internet connection.

That's one of the main reasons I got out of video games in general. Though truth be told, it's debatable how "into" video games I was to begin with, having only had a Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 while growing up. We didn't even get a computer until I was 15 and my parents had a strict "no games on the computer" policy at the time.

If you’re already connected to the internet 24/7 what’s the issue?

I’m not actually going to buy it outright, I’m going to sub to Ubisoft’s plus service. Way cheaper than buying it (if I beat it within a month). It also gives you access to the most expensive edition

If I like it enough to want to replay it, I may buy it down the line on discount. It’s an Ubisoft game, so it will be decently discounted during a sale event with in a year. Probably in May for star wars day.

I did the same thing with Jedi: Survivor and EA Plus

I've never owned a game console. Most of my gaming, especially these days, is on my phone. And there are times when service is limited or I don't want to use my data for a game.

What happens if your internet is down for maintenance, or because a cable got cut accidentally or something? Guess I can't pass the time playing Outlaws...
To be fair, I don't think it's an "online all the time" game, more that you have to be online when installing it (and it will probably have a gigantic day one download) though I could be wrong.

Personally, I just have no interest in paying full price for a game that I only "sort of" own, not to mention the disc will probably not contain the full game. (Online-to-install games seem to usually have a day one download or patch, and the disc only contains a portion of the game.)

I haven't bought a physical copy of game in several years.

But I could see how that would be an issue if you don't have fast internet.

Considering newer computers don't even have disc drives anymore, physical media is a non-thing for PC games now.

I play Halo Master Chief Collection all the time. It's all software and online. I haven't put a single physical game into my current computer. Unless the game crashes or there's a server/network issue the gameplay doesn't run into the problems that physical media discs often carry.
