Since each season of Discovery has its own beginning, middle, and end, you don't need to watch Seasons 2-4 to understand Season 5.I didn't keep up with Discovery after a few episodes into season 2 but I keep hearing good things about this final season. Does anyone know of a watch guide (yknow ones where people advise which episodes are worth watching, which are vital for plot, and which are skippable?). I appreciate they're subjective but would like to catch up without enduring all the dud episodes. If not, are there any seasons I could just outright skip?
(To add, not my intent to hijack this thread!)
Why does this person have a "strikeout" through their name?
Thank the Great Bird of the Galaxy.Because they’ve been banned.
Not sure yet if S5 is the best Disco season, but I don't think Beyond and PIC S3 are the best of their series anyway, so...
Same here. PIC 3 may actually be - it's certainly the one that would be one's favorite if one is a TNG fan, for obvious reasons - but I felt that PIC 1 was a stone cold masterpiece (minority opinion, I know). And Beyond, IMO, is the single worst Trek film - or second to Insurrection, if I'm in a generous mood. So the OP's thesis is shaky to begin with.
That said, DSC S5 was a definite improvement over the horrendous S4, which I will state unequivocally was the worst season of ST ever produced. In retrospect, that show's best season must've been 1 or 2. I have rewatched season 1 and found it actually okay, but that is mostly because the series went so downhill starting with season 3, so it's all relative.
Wow, that’s some intense dislike for “Star Trek: Beyond!” I thought that “Star Trek: Beyond” was pretty good, although somewhat forgettable. It had the usual humor, fun, and action of the reboot movies. I wonder what caused the intense dislike for it? I agree with your view on “Star Trek:Insurrection” though.
When people say "for some reason" in their critique of something, that's usually an indication to me that they weren't paying attention and just want to actively dislike something "for some reason".
All of the information is right there.
Also, Jaylah was the best thing to come out of the Kelvin universe. My 2 cents.
I really enjoyed Discovery overall, but have to conclude that it didn't end on a high note for me. Picard did. Discovery didn't. Here's to hoping Lower Decks does! (Lower Decks has been more consistent than Discovery so it has that working in its favour to me)
