Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy General Discussion Thread

I don't see why they'd have a problem with two Trek series airing at the same time. It was never seen as a bad thing back when DS9 overlapped with TNG and VGR. And since Prodigy is a kids' show, it's not even aimed at the same target audience.

Seems obvious to me that the most likely date for season 2 is December 2024, one year after the first season. Either that or it'll just turn up one day with little to no publicity.

Sitting on this series all the way to December while Season 2 has already been out in one part of the world seems to me like a really dumb decision.

I was hoping it would be at least Summer before the French version got released. Now I just feel like they are stalling and they shouldn't. Discovery ends this week. Bring out Prodigy next week.

I fear that may be the case. The Hagemans and/or Waltke had explained that netflix likes to aim their children programming at the vacation periods to get maximum potential, and due to people travelling the summer vacation may not be the best option. Late December may be the most optimal from their pov.

But... but... I want it

Six months after the first season.

Will the episodes be released weekly or will they release the whole lot at once?

Damn, that didn't even occur to me.

All 20 episodes of season 2 were released at once in France and Netflix released season 1 at once, so I wouldn't be surprised if all the episodes come out the same day.

Yeah, but what country is that? Its not listed in my app that way in the U.S. But it does say "New Season Coming Soon" on the thumbnail. Also, the way the date is listed tells me its not the U.S.

It absolutely could be coming 6/30 globally but we just haven't seen an official announcement yet. (Not sure that we will.)

Check the “Hot & New” tab of your Netflix app. It is there in the US as July 1st.

Interview with Aaron Waltke about S2, with Trekmovie's All Access-podcast: https://trekmovie.com/2024/06/21/po...ron-waltke-joins-all-access-to-talk-season-2/

Edit: some interesting (to me) remarks from Aaron Waltke:
-the story of S2 is more or less structured in blocks of 5 or 6 episodes that conclude one aspect of the storyline
-there are 5 double parters (so half the season!), this time they were "more honest" about labelling two parters as being just that (unlike, say, Terror Firma in S1)
-they are apparently playing into the multiverse thing (Aaron cited TNG's "parallels" as one of the references) and there may be an attempt at a "grand unifying theory" for all/most of the different sorts of Star Trek time travel
