Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

"Dont be bad... don't be bad"
.. looks at all the rest of Sony made non disney spider man movies.. ... F÷=/:brickwall:

Can be so awesome.. if they dont fudge it up..

Okay, my interest in the live-action Spider-Man Noir series is now massively increased. Yes, Cage has made some dodgy choices (collector’s edition comics and one’s own island don’t come cheap) but he’s always a very watchable actor https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/nicolas-cage-spider-man-noir-live-action-series-amazon-1236001604/
That's potentially very good news but it really depends on the writing and the styling of the show. In my head, it sounds like a great idea, but I have very little trust of Sony. Very much a wait-and-see before I get too excited.

I absolutely get why people are wary but it is produced by the people behind the Spiderverse movies. Admittedly they’re not writing AFAIK, but their involvement does give me some hope that it’ll be good.

And that's precisely why I'm not completely writing it off from the get go. Fingers crossed it goes the right way.

Err, why would a show entitled Spider-Man Noir be unable to mention Spider-Man?
I was under the impression it was just going to be called "Noir" and be about a "former super hero".

The scuttlebutt on the internet was that the partnership deal with the MCU might not allow live action Spider-Man badged projects.

Probably internet nonsense.

Definitely curious about Noir, but not to surprised about Silk. After the reception Morbius and Madame Web got, it's not all shocking that Sony is scaling back their Marvel stuff. The article does say it's being shopped around, but unless it's really great, I'm expecting anybody else to pick it up.

When it comes to Sony's Marvel projects, at this point I just don't believe they'll exist until they're actively filming. So much stuff thrown at the wall but never followed up on, and the stuff that does get made is junk like Morbius, Madam Web and Kraven.

Not surprising given they fired almost everyone working on it after 'Madame Web' flopped, with a plan to retool it for a male audience.

A damn shame Sony took all of the wrong lessons from Madame Web but unfortunately I'm not at all surprised. This isn't the first time we've seen a studio decide "This one all-female cast/female-centric film flopped, this must mean audiences hate all-female cast/female-centric films so we should scrap all of those plans and go back to all men all the time. Has nothing to do with the shitty writing and/or directing! Not at all."
