Huge upgrade. They seriously needed to not look like Leia in RoTJ.

So they need the suit to maintain cohesiveness. That form is culturally preferred because the solid form is not. Taking solid form is taboo.

It also makes sense why they felt kinship with the Changelings.

The Breen lost their snout, and now we know what they look like under the helmet :shrug:

A short review this week.

This episode was much bigger and better than I had really expected. I didn't think we'd get any Breen answers, or see the origin of L'ak and Moll. Both were really satisfying. I get the sense Moll would love some closure since she was tearing up. If Booker doesn't convince her to come over, then Book will have to convince her that family ties will. I give them credit for generating what was a much more emotional and dramatic relationship than I gave them credit for with L'ak and Moll as well. Never underestimate the dependency of two needy people. Nice symmetry here.

The Breen redesign = A+
VFX= A+
Linus playing piano=A++
Burnham's ploy=A

I'd give it a little less than a 10 but on the BBS scale it's a 10. A thoroughly enjoyable season so far.

They teased us with the appearance of THAT ship 3 weeks ago, and it turns out to be pretty meaningless, just an empty wreck with nothing interesting inside. Could've been any other ship. And much of the episode is people staring at each other, saying predictable and uninspired things to each other. I guess my hopes and expectations were too high, it was just lame.
It was fantastic. I certainly didn't want to see the MU again. It had a lot of meaning for the people who made it through the interdimensional barrier. This was perfect Trek.

All the plot holes this episodes just confused me.

How did a ship that had been abandoned for 800 some years still have power?

What happened to the third biosign that was in sickbay?

Where did the Warp Pod come from when earlier in the episode they stated that all the Enterprise's escape pods and small craft had been launched?

Why couldn't the 31st century Discovery catch up to a 23rd century Terran Warp Pod who's warp trail they could follow?

How the hell did a 23rd century Terran Warp Pod avoid the scanning capabilities of the entire 31st century Starfleet?

Simple: If the warp pod wasn't from the Enterprise (since they'd all been launched), the pod didn't come from the Enterprise. It was L'ok and Moll's. They have to have been travelling around in something throughout the season.

That answers three of your questions right there.

I am now totally expecting the classic, "It's the ENTERPRISE!" line during the final set piece battle. Can not WAIT to see the 32c Upgrade Connie refit.

So place your bets! Raynor gets re-promoted to captain of the new Enterprise with Rhys as his XO vs Training/Hero ship for SFA.
Ah, that did not occur to me.

They directly stated it was a Terran Warp Pod in the episode.

And directly told and showed us that L'ok and Moll's ship had been destroyed.

Moll strongly reminds me of Abby Maitland from Primeval.

The Breen avoid the whole "forehead prosthetics for all non-humans" classification by literally having two faces. One appears holographic superimposed over the orgnanic. Perhaps in their culture this is the way the elites recognize and honor each other. Uniforms, or suits, for the face, as it were.

I got a Doctor Who Slab vibe from their updated look. I could easily see them mounting motorcycles to pursue Moll and L'ak.
Someone else remembers that show?
As for the Episode it was a mixed bag for me

You know, I can't check right now, but I don't remember the pod L'ok and Moll escaped from being something that looked like it came from the Enterprise. But it's been a long time since I've seen SNW.
