Same here. We have 3 episodes left in this season. Time to start really explaining that because it's ruining the character so far. Now that Rutherford is also growing a beard I can't help but feel like the initial separation between the two Cerritos' in the first episode created a new fissure (Maybe even time travel involved) and we are seeing the start of the other Cerritos. But then we had the Starbase 80 episode and that place didn't seem so bad. I'm getting a little Impatient I guess.
Didn’t they say in the first episode that that wasn’t the first fissure to show up?
And this is why "Food & Drinks" aren't allowed in sensitive areas like "The Transporter Room".

That should be a general ban in many sensitive areas.

Also, if you're going to have drinks, they should be in a easily close-able / lockable container like a proper tumbler / thermos.
captain mercer take note!

Still, those consolles should be intelligent enough not to be affected by random sticky fluids.

I confess: I once got note from CBS informing me that coffee was not allowed in the transporter room.

Why, yes, that scene did involve Janeway. How did you guess? :)

You should have complained about how over on DS9 they're allowed to drink coffee in Ops, which is also their transporter room. ;)
It's possible Cardassian technology is a little sturdier than Federation when it comes to exposure to liquids.

Kira did teach Ziyal that Cardassian rifles were a LOT sturdier than Starfleet rifles. It's very possible a lot of other technology follows a similar pattern.

(Also, we have seen Kirk and others on the bridge drink coffee while at their stations. It's possible Starfleet had sturdier consoles and technology in earlier times than in TNG's era. It would also explain shuttlecraft durability... ENT lost only one in 4 years. By the time VOY comes around, shuttles are lost as often aa socks during laundry day.)

Also, maybe Raktajino is less conductive and corrosive than the drinks that Boimler and Rutherford had.

A reminder that the panel doesn't explode or short out, it's the much, much less severe "the touchpad can't be used because it has tomato juice on it."
....my god you're right. No giant EPS conduit explosion killing some random gold shirt or leaving boimler with his beart burnt off and his uniform singed.
