Just found out about this.
I have only one thing to say to the executives at Paramount who made this decision.

What's the ROI?Pumping vast amounts of money into series like this and Discovery is what has led to Paramount's current position.
I doubt it had anything to do with what the Execs like only because it's ending at the same season Discovery is.Indeed, generally folks in power like to push ego and 'make a name' by getting a show cancelled because it's 'not their thing'. Firefly, ToS, etc.
Limited minds cannot accept ideas, statements, or thoughts outside their narrow dogma....often Trek falls into that.
Similar to Futurama it may come back one day, but unlikely under current Paramount execs.
If it was their least popular, I doubt they'd be making a spin off from it.drama spin off of the least popular Trek show.
Honestly, I have a suspicion Netflix has already made the decision not to renew Prodigy for any further seasons, given S2 is all complete and available in France, but Netflix is making no moves to release it themselves. All the more reason to support Star Trek: Prodigy when Season Two arrives on Netflix. If animated Trek does well enough on their platform, they may bring it over as well.
I wanted to see what they'd do for the season 14 poster once they ran out of movies. Oh, well.
I think 10 is the perfect number.. 20 is too much.

Besides, the only reason Netflix stepped in with Prodigy is because the season was something like 85% done when Paramount+ pulled the plug and decided not to run it themselves. I'm not sure how much of Lower Decks is complete, but given Paramount+ still plans on running it, this is not a comparable situation at all to Prodigy at all.
The longer it's available legally in another country, the more chance there is of the audience illegally watching that version, which takes potential viewers away from Netflix. And besides, spoilers are out there now, so even if people don't illegally watch the French dubs, they don't have to legally watch it to know what happens, they just need to find a legal synopsis written somewhere. Netflix hurts themselves the longer they go without releasing Prodigy. Why would Netflix’s release date be influenced by what a single region of France does?
Even if that is the case, they could at least begin that promotion by releasing a trailer. They haven't even done that much.Netflix most likely want to release it when their algorithm and schedule will give it the most views and allow time for promotion.
I’m not aware of anyone who has decided not to watch a show they were at least interested in due to plot details being revealed. My guess is that it is not material in the grand scheme of things, and may actually help publicity, paradoxically. The longer it's available legally in another country, the more chance there is of the audience illegally watching that version, which takes potential viewers away from Netflix. Most of our new Trek shows are ending.![]()
The promotion window is very small. Six weeks is wiser so clearly they are not there yet...Even if that is the case, they could at least begin that promotion by releasing a trailer. They haven't even done that much.
We don’t know that. The only thing that seems to be certain in regards to Strange New Worlds right now is that it will have a third and then fourth season. So SNW will end with S5 then...
You’re off on Strange New Worlds. The next season (airing in 2025, I believe) will be its third, not its fourth.Disco S5 (current)
