Few odds and ends that im like egh?

But in general give it an 8 not bad. I like the actors. Just the scripts could do with some polish.

Not to sure of what to make of this episode.

It’s very theatrical and very exciting, for sure. I liked most of the plot enough, could have made without the nonsensical escape sequence cum disaster at the end. Loved Fred (but he’s gone already! :( )Frustrating that we have yet another (literal!) mystery box containing a galaxy threatening something.

Kovich and Vance are acting unnecessarily irrationally, so is Tilly (no legal consequences to what she did? Really?).

As usual, Osunsanni’s direction gives me vertigo. Why is this shot upside down?! Why the camera has to always be moving?!

a pity to see the spore drive become yet another abandoned technology when they had a working prototype again last season.

7.

Haven't seen it. Don't even know if it's available where I am.

- Is a mystery of potentially galactic import established in the first episode?

- Did they budget well for a kinetic action sequence to kick things off with quippy one-liners?

I must know.

It's DISCO. So, yes to all.

Do you see their names in the opening credits? They aren't there to be "developed". OTOH, look at who's names are in SNW's opening credits. The bridge crews aren't comparable.
Yup, and that's exactly my point. It might be intentional but for me it doesn't work as well.

Fred = absynth! :lol:

I'm disappointed Michael asked Tilly to break the encryption to learn what Kovich was keeping from her. For one, it's reverting to her old habits of snubbing authority. And two, she should already have a blank check from Starfleet and the Federation for saving the Alpha Quadrant from the DMA.
I just thought it was lame that Dr. Kovich felt the need to keep it a secret. It really wasn't necessary because it didn't reveal much more. You already knew it was something really dangerous. The reveal about the progenitors and the Romulan doctor doesn't reveal any more than that. Just confirms that the Romulan guy also thought it was very dangerous.

Kovich is behaving like it's a special access only program, and Burnham and crew don't have the clearance to be read in.

I got that. Just doesn't seem necessary. Wasn't a big deal in terms of enjoying the show. Just a way an attempt to amp up the mysteriousness of it all I guess. "Oh wow, it's a Red Directive <duh duh daa!> and he can't even tell us what it is!"

But I enjoyed the premiere mostly. A fun ride.
