2x14 "The Mirror Universe"

IDW's concept of the 24th century mirror universe is...
The Terran Empire still exists, but it's only Sol being defended by a handful of ships.

If this is a legitimate release, which it seems to be, then I'm hoping we get some screenshots of the Bridge of the Voyager A ASAP and a Netflux release.

I hope Netflix moves fast.
I figured they were waiting for Christmas 2024, but with this French thing, that's a big blow.
I don't want spoilers but feel they'll almost be inevitable.
It's only been 3 months they've had Season One.
During that time I rewatched all of season one on the Netflix platform.
I'm hoping it's sooner than Christmas.
Yes, Easter would be nice. But I don't know if Netflix cares, especially for such markets like US and Germany this early release in French probably won't matter. The target audience is unlikely to vpn or even pirate to get an all French version. If Christmas is the ideal release according to their analysis, they may hold to that regardless.

Really? Usually Netflix shows come with every language under the sun on them
It's not a netflix show, s2 was ordered and produced by paramount. Netflix has the rights for certain markets, but not for France apparently. And maybe France2, in turn, only has the rights for the French dubbed version and not for the original audio?

I'm able to watch it on Francetv.com, but its in French... and no English subtitles - which is of course a problem since I don't either speak or read the language (Croatian and English here only).
Sigh... one would think FranceTV would have had the original English version, and never got this thing behind dubbing stuff (I prefer watching movies or shows in original languages with english subs).

The thing is its possible France did a sub of the show intentionally... so as to prevent people from outside France to be able to fully enjoy the show (I mean, the experience is diminished if you can't understand something and you lose context - yeha, pics are fine, but for some of us who have issues with reading body language or interpreting stuff properly, it can be a problem).

Might just end up waiting for some other website to release Pro S2 in english.

What's interesting is that France TV published all of Season 2 at once... I wonder if Netflix or others when they release Pro S2 if they will do it on a weekly basis like before or will they release the whole of S2 at once (given what France did, they just have to release all of it at once).

Since I live in Holland and we mostly have to wait a long time before something streams here (DSC has just recently been added to Sky Showtime), I couldn't help myself and I binge watched PRO S2 in one straight viewing..! Cannot wait to see it with the original English audiotracks, but I have loved every second so far..! Awesome season..!

No, that's just how things are, the same way most British TV is in English, Welsh, Irish, etc, and American TV is often English or Spanish. When we have foreign language shows, we dub them - the majority of the audience can't understand the original, so why bother offering it?

I know enough French to understand the plot descriptions but can't follow it spoken at normal speed, so will wait with even more impatience for Netflix.

Because there is something in the original that the dubbing cannot replicate and ends up 'lost' (besides most dubs end up sounding extremely corny and inauthentic which actually makes me want to cringe whenever a dub is done).

Also, it wasn't THAT uncommon to show people movies and shows in the original language it was made (even if they didn't understand it) and then subs would be provided for in a language they DO understand.

Its the same thing with Japanese anime... I can't stand the dubbed versions. I prefer the original vocal (aka Japanese) language with subs I can understand... its just a lot more enjoyable to watch something like that for me.

I'm actually surprised how much I'm enjoying this even without subtitles, being that I know no French. I'm even utilizing my slow internet causing the video to pause and buffer to use the word lens on my phone to translate the french subtitles.

All the reactions I've seen so far, from people who watched part of all of it (here or on Reddit), are very positive so far. Very encouraging.

I don't know how it is in France proper, but the French language public broadcaster for Belgium (RTBF) usually offers the original language as an option on its streams. For Belgium, it's also handy as a Flemish viewer wouldn't want a French-dubbed version of a movie that's originally in English (access to Belgian public broadcasters, in Dutch or French, is free for the entire country). Before the streaming area, RTBF would sometimes broadcast the late night movie on two channels at once, dubbed and original.

Since offering the original stream would have been very easy, it is possible that it is not done for either contractual reasons (stipulating that only French can be offered, exactly to avoid competition with streamers in other regions) or because they don't want children to be exposed to English (which is a bit of a thing in France; I notice that especially in The Netherlands, younger people start weaving English terms or literal translations of English phrases in their day to day language. The French tend to want to protect their language, with some reason).

You can only see it for the first time once, so I would want to see it in a way that makes the most of that experience. Original language is best, even if the dub is of good quality and you understand the language in question sufficiently.

This is pretty much how I feel about it too. I can read French moderately well, so I'd probably be able to follow along reasonably enough with the subtitles. But I'd much rather experience it for the first time with the original performances. I generally prefer to watch movies/shows in their original language, whatever that language happens to be. (With English subtitles, of course!)

So I am quite content to wait for the official release here, and don't feel any need to jump through any hoops to try to watch a French language version. (Now if only CTV would give us some hint as to how it's actually going to be shown here...)

Nor do I want to spoil myself in advance, so I do appreciate that everyone is spoiler-coding all the spoilery bits. :)

Very sovereigny

Although in this instance the main distinctive feature which is Sovereign-ized on VOY-A are the nacelles... everything else is reminiscent of the original VOY.

They seem to have went with what Freeman said in L.D. that a starship comes out all looking Sovereign class. :D

I guess its an aesthetic trend with SF engineers... if they are left unchecked... but otherwise, starships CAN retain their looks without being overly sovereign-ized.

Though I think VOY-A was designed from the get go to look like this.
