I love how it looks like a Kelvin saucer with Soyuz pods and nacelles.Technically not a 31st century ship, but we've got a clear render of one of the scrap yard Federation ships from Season 3.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed but I see it now.It also has 2250s bussard collector arrangement.
I forgot this design existed until looking through EAS’s list of 32nd century ships
The NSS T’Pau

Eh?It looks like a deformed version od the USS Arges, a non-canon ship: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/mDOkVd
While I’d like that, I figure they already tried it a few centuries ago with the Universe-class and eventually decided, nah, that was a little much.Just give me a ship whose bridge is a clearing in a forest where they fly the thing with iPads.
Eh?
The Dscovery one is based of the Suurok class from Enterprise.
Looks awesome to me.but the NSS T’Pau looks like a result of a laziness engineer.
I wasn’t aware that we were obligated to bow down and worship at the feet of every Star Trek designer and consider everything they design to be above reproach.
Also...you think it looks awesome? Really? I can barely make it out.

This.
The ships were badly lit to be fair... one could hardly make them out.
Its possible part of the reason for this is because they had to make them quick and dirty... so too elaborate lighting could expose... imperfections in the meshes (we do this in 3D all the time).
That said... pushing the show 900 years in to the future was a bad decision. The designs being based from nearly 900 year old ones is incredulous in itself. The show should have taken place in the 26th century for credibility aspect if that future pod from the 26th century we saw in TNG was any indication (design aspects seem closer to this era)... not the 31st.
Mind you there are 'some' 31st century desig elements from Disco S3 and 4 that look... ok... but for the most part... they just don't look that futuristic or advanced to me... but that's probably because the showrunners decided that things would largely remain the same (which of course ruined it for me - its also one of the reasons I keep hoping that future is ERASED from canon permanently, or AT LEAST that its NOT part of the Prime Timeline, but an alternate future).
The USS Relativity from VOY had more appeal to it - I wonder if the designers ever drew from that little tidbit).
Where did I say that we should worship them? All I said is don't be insulting by calling it lazy.I wasn’t aware that we were obligated to bow down and worship at the feet of every Star Trek designer and consider everything they design to be above reproach.
I just noticed that the trailers appear to show a new class of starship in season 5.
Could this be the first of a new post-burn design lineage?
My thought exactly.Seeing new ships start to appear would definitely show how the Federation is rebuilding itself post-burn. I hope for a couple new ships this season.
