Walking Dead The Ones Who Live

I am interested that they are going to have a Little Person on it. That is a point of view we have not seen in this world.

Also, I love the actress Lesley-Anne Brant from Lucifer and the actor Terry O'Quinn from Lost.

Looking forward to it tomorrow, and @TREK_GOD_1 extensive review will give us lots to talk about.

One thing, though, i dread... is that this will be Scott Gimple and CO. trying to wrest every last drop of undead blood form the franchise.

Is it correct that these 6 episodes will not be it for the show? Because otherwise, it feels like neither the writers nor the producers nor the actors have anything they could get lined up, so they go back to this "job security" (like Lauren COhan did with Maggie when her show failed).

After season 2 of Darryl & Carol and Negan & Maggie, i hope they do a final film..... because at this point... it just feels like they are just trying to keep a cash cow producing.

Moo!

AV Club reviewed the first four episodes screened for the critics and gave it a C- and, without being spoilery, some of the characters shown in the previews only appear for an episode or two before being killed off.

I would agree with that regarding keeping a cash cow producing, IF the new shows were trash. They haven't been. Dead City and especially Dixon have been terrific shows.

85 percent on RT and they currently have a 100 percent on the viewer ratings. And genre fans are usually harshest critics (look at Star Trek).

I would be bummed off if they killed off most of the extra characters though. That was a problem I had with Dead City.

Dixon really developed interesting new characters and kept most alive.

I hope the show is about fighting the dead, and not the living. The world is already in ruins. How much farther do they need to destroy it, for people to finnaly come together and work for the common goal of survival and revival of humanity?
I doubt that's one this will be, one of the most consistent themes of the entire franchise so far has been that the living are more dangerous than the dead, and that the apocalypse has brought out the worst in a lot of people. I really can't see TOWL going to far away from that.

Yeah, that theme goes all the way back to Romero's 'Dead' movies; humanity is its own worst enemy, and the dead are just an excuse to take out our prejudices on those we don't like.

It sounds like Starbrow is throwing in the TOWL ;)

(I don't the one guy who won't get the joke has watched this franchise)

Just ended for me, and it was a pretty good start IMO.
During the episode I was a little shocked we didn't see Michonne, but by the end I understood.
Definitely did not expect to get the Rick/Michonne reunion already.
I'm sad to Ocafort go, I kinda liked him.
Is the hidden city Philadelphia?
Am I the only one thinking it was the CRM who bombed Omaha? We got at least one reference to mysterious bombs going somewhere during Rick narration, so I'm assuming that was them getting ready to take down Omaha's barrier wall.

If they are able to run a few refineries..... the CRUDE oil would last forever, right? It's just they need to refine it... which in this universe, will last longer than in the "real" universe.

And the parts wouldn't be scavenged unless someone had a need...... with what, 1 /50,000 humans left, the demand for such tools would go way down... if people had the tech know how to replace equipment

One of the largest oil refineries on the east coast was in South Philly. It was previously owned by Sunoco and sold off before having a massive explosion/fire about 4 or 5 years ago and closing and then being demolished.

So that could still exist and be operational here. Of course you still need crude to refine, but if they are setting up forward operating bases they could have reclaimed some offshore rigs. Some of the largest offshore oil rigs are actually off the coast of Newfoundland.

Tainted meat!? :shrug::whistle:;)

you guys:guffaw:

Can we start spoiling yet? Because definitely the character death in episode 1 felt waaaay too early. Hopefully we will see them again in some kind of flashbacks, but it seems like they are going straight linear here.

Well, the viewer ratings would have to be from either fans who paid money for AMC+, usually specifically to watch Walking Dead...or else fans who want to pump up the show.

You might have missed (understandably) Walking Dead World Beyond. The CRM totally was behind the destruction of Omaha. The question would be why. Major General Beale seems totally rational and intelligent, from his brief interaction with Rick.

The timing here, though, is going to be crazy. Because in WOrld Beyond, they also showed the destruction, but also were showing that Portland was next but i don't recall the timeframe of like if that was supposed to happen within the next week, or was there some prep time needed to make that happen. (There was supposed to be some chemicals used but a mian character in World Beyond destroyed them before they could be taken to Portland).

Maybe i made some bad assumotions, but i feel a little misled. I know the original plans were to have 3 movies set up (i believe a theatrical release as well; i am thinking the dive in ratings brought this down to a TV level).

My thought would be that movie 1 would be RIck in captivity and learning to deal with it. Movie 2 would bring Michonne & Rick together, and movie 3 would be them reuniting in victory.

But they basically dumped Rick's first 5 or so years

Then they had done year of them accomplishing his task without incident.

I briefly saw the credits that Scott Gimple ("CHief Cretaive Officer) and Danai and Andrew were credited with writing the story.I would definitley be interested in that process.

And stray thought -- i wonder if anything from Fear will be mentioned (i.e. i would think they would have noticed a nuclear explosion!), as well as ALexandria.... while not as big as the other 3 cities --i wonder why

If we don't see any crossover on some level of any of the spinoffs (or even original), i would really question Gimple's role as "chief creative officer"

They did reference Fear in the opening titles, we see that Texas and Louisiana have a "Nuked" status on the CR's map of America. This is due to Nuclear damage done there in Fear.

Will watch it tonight. What impressed me is on RT the audience score is 96 with over 100 reviews. Genre franchises like TWD, Trek, and Star Wars usually have the most critical fan bases.

i wonder if those who REALLY love it are the ones paying attention.... i feel like TWD has fallen off the radar of a lot of people, so the "haters" might not even know it's up... also, this isn't really for people "new" to the Walking Dead universe, so "objective" reviews might not be out just yet.

But i look forward to what y'all think... can we add a poll to this thread? (And one open ended, so that even if you love it/hate it now, maybe the finale will change your mind
