Clancy Brown is still around, he might be up for it.
But no, The Kurgan doesn't need to be a hulking figure, but an intimidating one. No one comes to mind straight away for me.
For Ramirez, there should be a silent depth to the character, ages of wisdom. That's something I see Edward James Olmos being capable of. Not sure if, at age 76, he's game for all the stunt fighting.
So, speaking of Ramirez....
Let's say this will be a reboot with many of the original characters.
Who would you like as Ramirez? The Kurgan? Brenda?
That's all with a big 'what if' ofcourse.
Graham McTavish as Ramierez would be a callback to a Scot playing an Egyptian masquerading as a Spaniard.
What about Alexander Siddig as Ramirez? He definitely has the acting chops, and the proper ethnicity. He can be serious or funny as needed, as well.
I think for the Kurgan, the best thing they could do is find some Eastern European or Russian actor who is relatively unknown, fuggin' HUGE, and scary looking. Make him authentic. The problem with someone like Bautista is that he's too well known, and half the people will look at him and see Drax.
I liked it how the Immortal played by the lead singer of the Fine Young Cannibals, used knock gas, so that his opponents would pass out, and then he'd just decapitate fallen over sleeping people.
In Highlander three Connor says that a potential immortal can have children, and will die of old age eventually, unless they prematurely expire from a violent death, which is when their "powers" kick in.
But...
The Directors cut of Highlander II says that they time travel up stream to the distant future, arriving in random eras and regressed into infants... If it's actual time travel and not super slow teleportation, then the time line changes every time a new immortal arrives in what they regard as the present, changing the composition of the competitors in the game, and the final outcome of the gathering. Hell, if there's half as many Immortals, then the Gathering might have concluded in the 17th century?
Eeww!I mean, it works so well.
Kermit=Connor
Animal= Kurgan
Miss Piggy = Heather
Fozzie = Ramirez
Kermit's nephew= Rachel
Eeww!
Do we even need Kurgan and Ramirez at all? I mean, we definitely need a mentor and a villain, but can't those characters be different and original? Such as the villain be a female, and the mentor be younger than Connor?
The original had SOME diversity, with 2 immortals being from Asia and Africa, but their scenes were extremely short, and in today's age we can up the diversity level quite a bit. So instead of the Mentor getting their sword from their father - in-law, it is actually made by their adoptive father.
Also wondering if their intentions is to make a franchise, and if so, what would that look like. Would the Gathering in this new movie be a "false start" or or something that could give way to a sequel?
Why recast? Ironside is still around.Yeah but I feel like we're not asking the important casting questions here. Who will play the ultimate mastermind behind all the Highlander villainy in this one....Katana.
Who is TV Rachel, Duncan's girlfriend? I am blanking super hard on her existing.
You typed too fast for me. I deleted my post because I suddenly remembered her. Rachel MacLeod.The Scottish women who called him an American poser when he went back to Scotland for the first time in like 200 years and was a regular for a bit. The dark quickening storyline was during her time.
I mean, it works so well.
Kermit=Connor
Animal= Kurgan
Miss Piggy = Heather
Fozzie = Ramirez
Kermit's nephew= Rachel
Okay, shut up and take my money...
