I also love how someone who finds themselves temporally displaced by centuries can quickly adapt to the modern era and learn how to use computers, cell phones and how to get money to fund living in the present.

The earliest form of Banking came around in 2000 BCE.

Obviously there is quite a difference from the Banks of that era to modern ones, but the fundamental concepts of a Bank did exist back then.

I don't think understanding the fundamental principles of banking would be much help to someone with no money, no sellable items, no ID, no degree or training records and no personal history or references. Plus no modern skillset, though certain ancient skillsets can still be useful.
 
I'm surprised there's been no casting announcement yet about who will play Rachel... Unless the character isn't being included in this version. And for what it's worth, if down the road they do decide to introduce Duncan, I think Aidan Turner would be a great choice for the role.
