News True Detective season 4 Jodie Foster to star

I enjoyed season three a lot.

It was season two that was a complete waste, especially of Rachel McAdams' talent.

That the same spiral we saw in the first season…TD’s version of the yellow sign…the spiral of birds?

Matt and Woody are behind the scenes here…

I thought that spiral looked familiar but it's been so long since the first season and I haven't rewatched it since, so I couldn't be sure.

I saw a preview for this yesterday.

Are all the seasons independent of one another?

Seasons 1 and 3 take place in the same continuity, while season 4 appears to use a symbol that signifies some kind of connection to season 1.

I was sort of interested until I found out Nic Pizzolatto won't be the showrunner anymore. He is still a executive producer but it's not the same.

So the CGI animals kind of threw me.

Just use real animals, you're giving them their big break in show business!

Was that Cassian Andor's mom?

Also nice little tie-in with season 1....

Wow, I did not recognize John Hawkes at all.

Then again the only other thing I know him from is Miami Vice.

The Lyle Lovett hairstyle didn't help.

Looks interesting. Will wait for the entire season to hit first. About to start Reacher.

Off to a wonderfully, gnarly, sinister start! I'm enjoying how the show doesn't hold back on how depressing and stressful and lonely and relentless it is to live in a small town so far north in Alaska during the winter. This ain't Northern Exposure.

Lots of board setting and it's almost hard to keep track of all of the characters and their interweaving histories and relationships, but I don't mind because Jodie Foster and Kali Reis are a great job carrying much of it on their shoulders with aplomb. Need more John Hawkes and Fiona Shaw (and Christopher Eccleston!) but we're only one episode in.

They looked fine to me.

Yup, Fiona Shaw in all of her magnificent glory. :D

Refresh my memory. I haven't watched it since it first aired.

I know him best from LOST and Deadwood. Very different role here from both of those characters.
