NCC -1701 (TOS).....

Hmmmm... I already treat SNW like it's a reboot anyway, so why not bring on the Phase II Enterprise?

But, on a more serious note, they probably will try to insist "It's not a reboot! It's not a reboot!!! Goddamnit!!!!", have the Enterprise wrecked in a heavy battle, and then refit it into the TOS Enterprise. "See how it all fits?" Then -- not to name names -- some people who are the most against it will change their tune and be like, "The way they did it, it looks great!"

Plus, it's not unreasonable to think SNW might end in 2026. It'll be on its fourth or fifth season. And 2026 just so happens to be the 60th Anniversary of Star Trek. Perfect time to bring out the TOS Enterprise, if they went that way.

I think if they do anything, giving in and going Alternate universe makes more sense. Imagine a S3 cliffhanger finale where after going thru a wormhole of some kind the SNW comes nose to nose with the TOS Enterprise. “Captain Pike, we are being hailed by…Captain Pike.”

I seem to remember a link here on this board that had an old ad for (Howard Anderson?) SPFX work with two columns of photos...one of which of a similar wooden model with the NCC-registry shoved a bit forward more to the forward saucer rim---so there may yet be another Dating sculpture floating about.

Anyone remember that link?

This may wind up being the next OTOY scan.

The saucer stand for the TOMY might help give the wooden saucer some additional support with a shim or two.

I'd like to see an MRI/X-ray so you could see the original flat bottom that looked to be bondo-ed into more of a truncated cone for "Requiem-"

You guys do know they'll probably give the SNW Enterprise a magic refit in the last episode and have a final scene on the Official Set Tour bridge, right? After everyone went mad over the Enterprise-D in Picard it's got to be an idea they're floating about.

Silly as it is.

Depends, if they carry on the show into a TOS remake with Paul Wesley it will stay as-is. If it ends with Pike symbolically handing over the ship, there is a pretty high likelihood it will be "refit" into the retro version.
Wrong.

This is a fannish pipe dream.

At no point in SNW will we see the Enterprise transformed into the TOS version. At no point.

Because there would be no point to doing such a thing.
This is still Kurtzman Trek. Along with everything that means.

It started off with changing the look of everything. Then, ever since the second season of Disco, they've been slowly changing things back, bit-by-bit. From season-to-season and from series-to-series. Not an approach I agree with, but something I've noticed as the trend across all of the series.

It would be really weird if it did happen. I’m
Not even sure if I would like it or not.

Edit - Anyway. Funny. A quick scan of Twitter regarding the 3 foot Enterprise discovery (which is incredible by the way). The amount of people saying ‘It can’t be the original! The original is at the Smithsonian! I’ve seen it!’ is hilarious.

You saw the 6 foot model you dumb bastards.

The 3-foot was practically legend. Lost in time and maybe smashed up somewhere. If it’s the real deal, it’s unbelievably amazing news.

I don't even know if they'll do it, which is why I qualified one of my earlier posts with "if they go that way." ;)

So, I think 1:1 isn't going to happen. Especially not in SNW. There's no budget for it, whatsoever.

I think what's most realistic is they try to fudge things as close to TOS as they can, while still retaining SNW's aesthetic, whether it's embellishments, minor set modifications, changes to props, changing lighting (TOS was lit with color) or whatever. It'll lead to pissing off two groups of people (which I can totally see): the ones who think they've made things look too much like TOS and the ones who'll think they haven't made it look enough like TOS.

Even when they had the Enterprise-D in the third season of Picard, all they showed was the exterior of the E-D and the bridge set. In the first season, all they showed (besides the exterior) was Ten Forward. So, not a whole lot of the D overall. Having just the exterior of the ship and only one set would never fly in SNW.

I have to think back to DSC Season 2 and how much of the Enterprise we saw there.

While not sound proofed or air conditioned to be an actual studio, the Official Star Trek Set Tour was in a previous life used to film a dozen fan films. Owner James Cawley was contacted a couple of years ago about the possibility of Paramout filming there and he gave permission but never heard back.

I don't think they'll do anything too substantial there, probably just a 5 minute thing of Pike and Kirk talking about the future then a shot of the new/old Enterprise flying off on the 5 year mission, but I reckon it'll happen. And it'll be the Picard season 3 Enterprise-D fanspooge all over again.
