Man, Sean at TrekCulture really didn't like the Sito Jaxa reference. Not really sure why?

I haven't gotten to that part of the video yet, but for my part, it felt contrived. There's been zero indication so far that these two characters knew each other, and further Stio was a character in the episode "Lower Decks," and now she's part of the tragic backstory on the series Lower Decks, and it feels too much like an in-joke for it to work as drama. We're supposed to take this history very, very seriously, but it's too in line with LD's typical humor.

Well we knew that Mariner had SOME dark and tragic reason for her actions. One interesting thing this episode does is recontetualize "Much Ado About Boimler" and Mariner's relationship with Amina Ramsey. There was a lot of speculation that Amina was a kind of wunderkind and excessively young as a Captain. In fact, if Amina is the same age at 32-35 then she's a perfectly appropriate age for being a captain and her concern about Mariner still being an ensign becomes a lot more justifiable. It also affects Mariner's relationship/sexual tension with Ransom as they're probably the same age but just very different ranks.

That was a stabbingly deep cut with Sito.. Kind of explains Becky's rebelliousness.. Look at Sito, she did everything by the book and got killed..
Missed T'Lyn.. Her dead pan is Much Much needed.. Look on her face is.. Alll you Bleeeing.. Bleep Bleeps..

huh, I wonder if the next episode is going to involve one of the group having to order someone to their death? That was a concern with Boimler earlier in the season, which almost resulted in his own death. With the Locarno reveal, I wonder if he's trying to create some kind of lower decks rebel movement for those that are in the dark about events that often result in their deaths? It seems like he captured the ships officers and marooned them while allowing the lower crews to take over the ships.

Anybody else think that the Venom Lizards look a bit like Rosie from The Jetsons?

THOMAS RIKER! Squeee!

Not sure about Nick being the bad guy. But the rest was 100% so I'll show them some trust. (Tom Riker!)

Wait. For one thing Lower Decks just referenced Lower Decks. Also it means that even if Mariner didn't know Wesley Crusher they were at least classmates.

But aside from all the fan-bait, wow. Just really wow. Everyone who has complained about Mariner's ups and downs this season it was ALLLLL part of the plan. I freaking loved this.

Awww, Boimler's "Whiny and Incompetent" coin came up heads this week.

(Tholian Web space suits!)

My guess is Sito Jaxa is still alive and Nick Locarno is taking Mariner to see her.
I might have a problem with that. Or maybe not. We'll see how it's done.

Locarno was just a dick.
He was also, what, 20? And we spent 20 minutes with him? What would that episode be like if LOCARNO had an influential father figure doing an investigation and showing him the importance of "truth"?

They could have come up with a contract for a flat payment for using the character in VOY.
Not how that works.

I have a less hard time believing that she was mixed in with those characters than I do believing that she served on DS9 during the show.

Looks like a Mouser from Ninja Turtles.

Arrgghhh! You beat me to it!

Indeed. Remember that once outed, he went down in flames protecting the team. So NO, I don't think he was or is irredeemable. And I could have totally seen him following a redemption arc on VOY.
