Who and what do you want to become starship names?

Oh yes, some obvious ones there. I should have thought Zheng He.

Surya Namaskar is a Sanskrit term and means to ‘salute the sun’ in gratitude for the life that it provides on our planet and also to the other stars that provide life to the various other home worlds throughout the Federation. I think that this would be a fitting name for a starship because there are lots of stars/suns in space and Starfleet should not just been ‘saluting’ and recognising the military commanders and human figures, but also the simple life giving things within the galaxy and ‘Mother Nature’ herself.

Perhaps the USS Surya Namaskar can have the mission of preventing the destruction of the Romulan sun, seeing as how the name kind of links. Maybe the Surya Namaskar can even be commissioned *after* the Romulan sun is saved in memory of this galaxy changing event? I would not be happy with the Surya Namaskar being a temporal time ship fighting in the time war as this vessel would be a peaceful exploratory science vessel, but this ship may be the only way to save Romulus and Remus… it could be a bit like Spock’s squid ship but more badass, much larger with a crew and more Starfleet looking. :D

**EDIT**

According to tradition though, there could only ever be three versions of this ship:

USS Surya Namaskar,
USS Surya Namaskar A
USS Surya Namaskar B

There are no other letters for Surya Namaskar replacements available, as far as I know….

There was also a General Sir Manley Power in the British army leadership in the War of 1812.
Which reminds me of my favourite naval officer, Sir Cloudesley Shovell. Now that's a name for a starship! Admittedly being best known for running your ship onto rocks might not be the best precedent.

Certainly better than the RAF's Sir Jock Stirrup...

Joint Federation/Romulan ship:

The USS Rome or maybe even the USS Vatican. We could take this one step further and say USS Crusader… but this ship name may not go down too well with other species.

I mentioned this ship in the other thread, USS Trump, but this name could equally have a place in this thread depending on how literally people take the words ‘bad ass’. :D
