decision regarding Rugal incomprehensible!

The difference is O'Brien tried to deal with his bigotry (at least outwardly) after Keiko called him out. Rugal's adoptive parents made no such effort.

Bajar had literally been occupied by space NAZIs under a year before.

They had suffered through genocide and slavery.

I would give bajorans a break if they were anti spoon head for a few years. Especially as Cardassia was still under fascist rule.

It's like NazI Germany surviving WW2 as a political entity and then expecting Israel to play nice with it and not be mean to the Germans.

If Cardassians didn't want to be insulted and discriminated against them they should change their evil government.

And Kieko was a arse for putting pressure on her husband who clearly had residual trauma from the border wars.

Agreed. Which is why I think the Federation should have made a priority of repatriating the Cardassian kids who weren't adopted.

KIRA: "Why? He wasn't Darhe'el! Why?"
MURDERER: "He's a Cardassian. That's reason enough."

Any questions?

Yes, I have a question in fact: Are you saying the fact that some Bajorans feel that way means that all Bajorans must feel that way?

Of course not. Just saying that many Bajorans feel that way, and that the Cardassian kids left on Bajor would likely be safer and happier on a different planet.

If Bajorans don't all feel the same way about Cardassians, it seems weird to make policy on the basis of what some Bajorans feel.

You so sure about that? Why are you so sure that taking them away from the only home they know and the people they love won't be harmful? Children need love and stability, not abstract assumptions about their best interests based on the idea that two cultures shouldn't mix because some people haven't dealt with their trauma.
