Like having the numberpad too. My home laptop has one, but my work one doesn't (though 95% of the time, I'm using external monitor and keyboard on that so have the numberpad there).

For work at least, it's because I use the numbers a lot. I don't tend to at home, but it's occasionally useful.

I use a docking station both at home and at work. I like a full keyboard along with dual monitors.

Grrmph.. so I found the cause of my test machine going bananas and switches off the second I switch it on, the powerbutton of the casing is broken, it's an Asus oem casing and none of my spare switches fit or are even remotely having the same shape as the broken switch so the casing will be scrapped.. I don't have a suitable casing for the test machine either so that sucks.

I prefer open cases now like the one I currently use which is basically a steel frame holding the board and drives but in a horizontal cube format not vertical.

Heh, I've had that happened before. It's really annoying. What happened was that the switch itself was prone to breaking due to weak parts and repeated use. The fix was to use caulking foam to prevent it from bending inwards and getting stuck.

In my case it's the microswitch itself, it just broke and it's stuck so the second you plug it in it will start up and then off again within a second, I've got a whole bunch of them but they simply don't fit because the one fitted to the casing is smaller and also far more fragile..

Couldn't you solder another switch into it's place after removing it as a bodge?

^^ Nope, mine are all way too big, I'll look for a cheap casing in a while so no biggy..

You do know they sell cheap power button's on Amazon for a few bucks.

You can easily replace your Power Switch with something you would prefer.

^^ If it weren't a Asus OEM casing with annoying Asus only parts/design/irritations then yes, but it is a Asus OEM casing, the microswitch sits inside a piece of plastic which protudes the front metal of the casing, its just stuck in with some plastic prongs and inside that plastic thingy you have a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle hole which holds the switch, so I have 10+ microswitches of all kinds from the really huge old style first generation Chieftec A500 casing type all the way down to switches belonging to book sized mini computers and none of them have remotely the same shape or size of that stupid Asus part and you can't make the hole in the plastic holder bigger because that will snap off the prongs that hold the switch, but again, cheap ass casings are eh.. cheap..
The quality of the Asus OEM is low anyway and it can only fit small fans so i'll find something that at least can hold two 120x120mm fans.

So my Windows 10 changed how it handles photos recently. It changed from the original Win10 photo viewer to this new version without asking. It refuses to rotate between pre-selected images, has the gallery at the bottom, closes with the ESC key. A total pile of garbage.


Most suggestions I've seen relate to going back the the "old" pre-Win10 photo viewer through various means, which of course looks very pre-Win10. I really prefer the dark-mode stuff.


Has anyone had any luck reverting to the original Win10 photo viewer? It looked more or less like the top image, but behaved like the bottom image.

I've always used IrfanView for a image viewer.
It's a old school image viewer that many of us have used for decades.

It is also a most excellent photo editor for quick and fast editing when you are in a hurry. I love Irfanview and have done so for many, many years Before that I used a program called Photoimpact

It does that too, but only alot of simple commands & edits.

I do a lot of shoots using natural light and no filters and find Irfanview fits the bill for my needs and it has image editing and enhancement options and they are great if you get to learn them. It's certainly no photoshop but it does the job.

I treat it as a Enhanced Version of MS Paint

IrfanView is super, you also have a portable version so you don't even have to install it and you can take it with you on a USB stick.
