Thanks. I've never had one die on me. I also used them at work to back up stuff or audits that was later sent to Iron Mountain. I warned them that this stuff changes over time, but they wanted to use them anyway.

KDE Plasma 6 has a tentative release date for February 2024

I'm looking forward to it. KDE 5.27.7 is a very solid environment, but there are places where it could use some tweaking. For example, letting us fully convert a panel into a dock, since so many other dock apps don't work well with KDE anymore. It's kind of halfway at this point, but needs a few more customization options to really make it feasible as a dock.

OK experimental time here. Has anyone ditched their regular keyboard for one without the number pad, and what was your experience making the switch?

I got couple of cheapish ones off Amazon and so far the results have been OK for the most part and the transition has been smooth. I just want to know if anyone else has done this and what was your experience.

I have, and I hated it. I need that number pad.

Wouldn't that be a use case though depending on your needs?
Nope, I use my number pad for everything, including as secondary controls in games. I don't even have to look down, I can just type out what I need as I do my charts, and it's good. There's also the fact that I have (unfortunately) large hands, and the extra space given by the number pad gives me room to "breathe" and flex. I feel constrained with numpad less keyboards.

That's fair enough. It is a need that is important for you. I think though over the recent years I have used the number pad less and less, arrow keys are my go to for movement in games, and the keyboard I had used now has everything including the arrow keys in the same familiar layout just no number pad.

I always use a normal full sized keyboard, no experience beyond the various laptops I used over the years, but having a numpad is great for when you need to use it.
