Prediction: How many seasons?

At one point I would have said five, taking us up to Pike transferring command of the Enterprise to Kirk.
Now, with the strike, my guess would be three, just like TOS.

The fact that Firefly and Star Trek Prodigy both got one season but Picard got 3 and Discovery will go out with 5 bewilders me.
That's because the longevity of TV shows doesn't depend on your opinion of them, or mine.

And for the record I liked picard and Discovery much more than the other 2 shows you mentioned. And Picard ended after 3 seasons only because that's how long Sir Patrick wanted to do it, otherwise it would have gone longer.

So, I'd love a ton of seasons. SNW is easily my favorite streaming Trek.

But given the across the board financial situation for streamers, I'll go with 4 seasons, which is what I said in the previous thread on this topic.

However, given the strike, I will say that it's possible the third season will be the final one, particularly if it lasts much longer. It's not just financial issues but personnel too. As more time goes on, members of the cast may want to leave. Some can be replaced but, well we'll see.

It seems that the trend is now for shows to shoot for 4 seasons. I still think SNW will try for 5 (mostly because of the 5 year mission), but who knows, especially when the strike is over.

Also, even the 5-year-mission stuff might not really hold up anyway, since they basically said early season 2 was only 4 months after early season 1.
Nah, a fictional five year mission won't hold sway over real-world finances. Before the strike, I was thinking 4 seasons and maybe 5. If this strike persists, it'll be 4 seasons but maybe only 3.

So you phase out Mount, Navia, Babs, Chong and Rebecca and try to hang on to Peck, Bush and Gooding. Bring in Quinn and Wesley as regulars. Cast new and less expensive actors as Sulu, McCoy and Chekov.
That would be fine. But at that point it's not really SNW but TOS Redone. Totally fine. But I wouldn't count it as being SNW.
As others have said, if Discovery can get 5 then I don't know why SNW couldn't get more given that it's so much better.
For one thing, the financial landscape for streamers has completely changed since Discovery started. They're all losing money and shareholders are demanding profits.

Probably 5. Maybe 4. I think they really want to do a Kirk series with the original crew at this point. It's getting close to that now with the intro of scotty. Pike is getting less screen time. After this series ends it will open right into Kirk and the rest of the tos crew taking over.

The cast can't move on to anything else, so I don't see them leaving.

they can’t move on right now. But we don’t know how many season they are contracted for. It might only be 3. And if it really does end up being 2 years until S3 debuts, some of the key players might be good to walk away once that hits.

Uhh... if they intended from the beginning for it be 5 seasons, that could very well be how it goes.

Two things about that.

First, if they intended for it to be 5 seasons from the beginning, it would be due to financial considerations that maximize profits and not due to a fictional five-year mission.

Second, even if they did plan for 5 seasons for financial reasons, the financial reality has changed sharply since SNW launched. That could prompt them to reduce SNW's run. Disco's and Prodigy's cancelations were both surprises brought about the changing financial reality. Also, the S31 series became a movie instead. Plans change.

Shoot, I'd love to see 5 seasons and even more. I hope we get that much.

Unfortunately, the current financial situation makes me less certain about it. And the strike doesn't help. (I do fully support the strikers though.)

Yeah, the financial situation around streamers has but a lot into flux. The strike only makes things worse.
