Star Trek: Lower Decks - Mobile Game

The bottle pouring ad keeps crashing the whole game, making me lose all the extra points for returning after hours

I’ve seen lots of ads kill the game. Mostly the ones that go on for longer than a minute. It’s almost like the video player runs out of memory for its buffer and swallows its own face once it hits the ceiling.

Maybe we should start posting screenshots of our adverts? They are part of the game, after all?

The food advert was HelloFresh, btw. I just got the advert again and the brand stuck in my mind this time.

Now it wants me to download ‘Blitz - Win Cash’, but alas, I only play Star Trek games.

...what are these people doing...? :D

Best ad so far :D

Starting to see blank streaming ads again which never complete and sometimes freeze the game. Ugh... I thought they fixed that.

The worst ad these days is tiktok, it switches to the store if you just breathe near your phone, and takes >5 switches back and forward to finally close the fucking thing - I wish you could block specific ads. Another one I wanna block for life is that disgusting foot worm pus ad. Who comes up with the idea to shove this into gamer's faces, and who approves such shit?

Huh... Haven't seen any of those. I wonder if they're geo-fenced by region.

The worst ones I've seen were for the State of Survival game, clearly recorded in Japan with odd cultural choices like people's faces being distorted in rage or fear, westerners bowing, drivers sitting in cars that are designed to drive on the left side of the road, mobs of angry gamers rushing in and yelling at and beating on others (usually corporate executive types) for not getting what they thought they "deserved", corporate types yelling at players and calling them "idiots" for downloading the wrong game (usually women wearing oversized and il-fitting men's suits), absurdly large-breasted women (and by absurdly large, I mean IMPOSSIBLY large) bouncing around (plus animated variants of the commercials, which are even weirder), and so on. Foot worm pus, though? Wow...

There have also been an increasingly growing number of ads that take about 3 or 4 clicks of the "X" (which sometimes doesn't even work or disappears entirely) to get back to the game. And, of course, the fore-mentioned games that look absolutely nothing like the ads - and worse - sometimes hypocritically throw shade at other games in their commercials that do the very same thing.

I'm fine with doing the ad thing to get extra in-game perks, and I recognize the need to introduce some kind of novel empty calorie shock factor to gain name recognition, but they really need to work on making them less obnoxious (and fraudulent). Commercials are supposed to convince people to buy something, NOT to piss them off and/or repulse them from the product. Completely back-asswards. Somebody epically failed Marketing 101 in school somewhere along the way.

The Gorn background was also really nice, with Kirk and the canon cannon :D

Got more ads to be mad about... here's one blatantly discriminating against homeless people who are just too lazy to work...

I wish they did that for the foot ad!

Well, a new event adventure has just started!

The adverts are trying to sell me a guy called Patrick Adam’s on a dating site. IMG_0887.jpeg
PS I can see Vasquez Rocks in your pic @NCC-73515 :adore:

Who the fuck is Patrick Adams? Who the fuck are ANY of these people they employ as “influencers” to convince us to get a game or download the Experian app? Are their opinions supposed to mean something? To anyone?

I absolutely agree, I believe that if these adverts are indeed intended to influence people then they should be influencing people with thespians recognisable to their target audience.

For example, if it was Wil Wheaton instead of Patrick Adam’s I would have bait clicked in this instance. This Patrick guy has *not* been in Star Trek, therefore he is just a face to me.

It’s been doing that for a while. At least it eventually let me in back then. Now it goes to about 13 or 15 and does a CTD. The weird thing, is that it doesn’t fully crash. It dumps me out to the desktop (weird thing to say for an iPad) but it’s still running in the background. Bringing it back to the forefront starts the progress over and crashes again at 13 to 15, rinse and repeat. I’ve not been able to get into the game since the last “update”. :brickwall:
