Spoilers Secret Invasion grade and discussion

I was trying to place where i have seen before the actor who plays Gravik . I looked at his film credits and realized that he played Malcolm X in One Night in Miami. He is a very good actor.

He was also Barack Obama in The Comey Rule but IMHO was just way too young to be convincing.

Some of the cast plays Pastry or Prop:

I only got one of them wrong and it's ridiculous.

I assume they are making Super Skrulls but don’t you need the Fantastic Four for that?

Well that's the thing; it's mentioned the two scientists they have running the project are a married couple, but unless I missed something, didn't name them. What if that's Reed and Sue? I mean I seriously doubt that's the case, but it would be a very sneaky way of introducing them.

As for the latest episode: another shock twist ending (I'm sensing a pattern) and now suddenly I have no idea where this show is actually going. I mean it's probably going to be a big CG Super Skrull fight eventually, I just hoped it would be a little more interesting than that, but now they've killed off a pretty vital character for the interesting part of this story, and revealed exactly who I didn't want to me a Skrull as a Skrull, I'm somewhat less optimistic. The MCU always did struggle with the third act . . .

I enjoyed the episode but I hope they didn’t just kill off another female character so that a male character has a motive for revenge.

In the Secret Invasion comics there were many Super Skrulls who had many different sets of powers from many of the Marvel Super Heroes.

Hank Pym had been replaced by a Skrull decades earlier, but after the real one hit his wife. One could easily argue that Hank getting powers in the WCA to make stuff bigger and smaller wasn't a byproduct of his modulating, but just a Skrull getting tired of pretending that he's a base line human.

Are we sure Fury's going to be in The Marvels? They aren't just pulling some trailer hocus-pocus again? This really is starting to feel like a 'nobody (except Rhodey - the real one, that is) is getting out of this alive' series.

Speaking of The Marvels, I'm starting to wonder if we're going to see Carol in one of these flashbacks before this is over. Both to explain what she was up to all those years and to reveal the real reason there's been no movement on the 'find a new Skrull homeworld' front. I imagine she's been getting an earful from various alien species with long memories when it comes to the Skrulls.

Groot = Stretches
Frost Beast = Resistant to heat (can be on fire)
Cull Obsidian = Ultra strong/tough
Extremis = can shoot fireballs from their hands

So they found the closest possible equivalents to three of our First Family that they could find among the available aliens we've met. Sue is the sole exception, as nothing's come close to her powerset as yet.

The couple's last name was already mentioned. I think it was Dalton or something like that, but in any case it definitely wasn't Richards.

Who was revealed as a Skrull this episode other than the military guys we'd never seen before?

Ah well. Like I said; very unlikely.

Did you not recognise the voice on the other end of that phone in the last scene?

I do not care about this show.

It is not grabbing me.

I'm barely watching it.

I went back.

I recognize the voice.

Although is this thing Turning in Odipus Rex?

Nick's step adopted son?

If Gravik is blinded in the last episode, some one is a hack.

Couldn't they have used Drax's DNA?

This episode was an instance of wishing the trailers hadn't given away so much. The reveal that everyone in the room at the restaurant was a Skrull would have been much more intense if I wasn't expecting it from the moment the scene started.

And just in case you haven't seen the trailer..

There is a scene of G'iah and Priscilla back to back with guns drawn facing down some enemy, so she's obviously not dead.

Not sure how I felt about this one. Lots of machinations that didn't seem to ultimately go anywhere other than Gravik smoking out G'iah, which I saw coming the moment of the Neptune phone conversation. Just a pity G'iah didn't see that she was being deliberately feed info.

I did enjoy the chaotic rapport of Fury's and Talos' conflicts with each other but I also hope that's resolved soon.

I also enjoyed the not breakfast scene (I wept for that cold food!) between Fury and Priscilla/Valla. However, I was pretty disappointed that all she had in her safe deposit box was just an ordinary gun (yeah, we saw that in the trailer). Felt very anticlimactic and pointless, and I expected there would something else there.

It's a small thing but I was bothered by how the submarine scene played out with the CO having his torn conversation about his orders with the weapons officer. Obviously it was to play out the drama of the moment since the weapons officer was a Skrull, but the CO wouldn't be having that kind of conversation with him. If anyone, it would be the XO before even going to that station. I know it's not a big deal but it nagged at me.

Rosa Dalton as played by Katie Finneran.

I thought about that while watching that scene and while you're right about losing the shock, I did like how the trailer scene primed us to know that the entire room was filled with Skrulls throughout the whole scene and help push even further to trust nothing around us.

Indeed. I thought of that, too.

Again, trust nothing.

That said, like Reverend, I'm disappointed that Rhodey is a Skrull, which undermines the excellent argument between him and Fury. Unless he was replaced after that conversation, but I highly doubt that considering the deliberate implication that the Skrulls wanted to fire Fury.

Nobody calls me Nick.”

For those wondering how this show will connect up with The Marvels, season director Ali Selim told this to the Hollywood Reporter:

For example, Nick Fury is in November’s The Marvels, so did you have to communicate with that team to make sure that you left him in the right position?

The answer is yes, but they’re not protracted conversations. It’s just simply, “Where do you need him? You need him here? Great.” And then we write into that. So that kind of stuff is very simple because it’s all above my pay grade.

It’s meh. Not that exciting. I’d rather watch the Blacklist or old Alias episodes.
