Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

The person whose name is under that spoiler tag is listed on Tardis Wiki as being rumored to appear in upcoming Who stuff with a tagged source that dates back to last October.

There you go.

The main staple of RTD2: Coming ahead of spoilers. I don't know if we were gonna get this announcement this way right now.

That background looks familiar...

What's interesting is that set was built for the 60th Anniversary Specials which she's long been rumoured to be appearing in.

If Bonnie were going to be in the Fourteenth Doctor Specials, that info would've been included in today's press release announcement alongside the confirmation of her being part of Series 14 alongside Ncuti.

If she hadn't been spotted on set it's possible there would have been no announcement yet which would explain why a publicity photo from last year was all they had ready to go.

Mel almost always gets overlooked in favor of Ace, but I personally love her character and am happy and excited that she'll have the distinction of being one of two Classic Who Companions (the other being Sarah Jane) to become an official Companion again in Modern Who.

K-9, Ace and Tegan too?

I don't believe that K-9, Ace, and Tegan have been listed as being official Modern Who Companions, but Sarah Jane has, and my assumption, based on RTD's comments, is that the nature of her role will have Mel following suit, although that could admittedly be a premature assumption.
